I like the look of the Verona Pizza one so far (handy for a takeaway while staying at Platinum).
hey Lesley. Sorry can't help with the restaurant.com voucher code.

    Verona sounds a good shout!

Can't remember if you said you had done Metro pizza at Ellis Island yet? If not, make sure you get there and don't forget their monthly "specials" calendar on their website :Dhttp://www.metropizza.com/calendar

We overdosed last trip on the large BOGOF special (but hey, if its free ;) ) plus I'm a big sucker for leftover pizza for breakfast :D

There's a Back to the Future slot machine? Cool! :D

Thanks for the trip report. Think I might google a pic of that chocolate terrarium thing you mention. Sounds intriguing! :)

Thanks for that doodle_bug. We are doing the Canyon this year by driving from Phoenix to the South Rim (staying over at Flagstaff), and then over to Laughlin for a night. Do you have any ideas on what we must do at the South Rim? I really need to get planning, don't want to miss anything. Can you drive in and park or drive around? I don't think we'll want to walk much because it will be early September and very hot!
When you get there you are going into a National Park, you pay per car $25, think that lasts for 7 days. you get a map and other stuff. There is car park right by a very good spot for viewing the canyon, you'll see this on the map. Some shops a Mcdonalds nearby. The sight of the Canyon was enough for me although when we got there it was raining, freezing cold and we were looking down on cloud, we went for something to eat and luckily the weather came nice.

Here's a short official National Park Service video which offers their advice on the best way to see the Grand Canyon National Park in four hours or less:

Yes, we'll probably do Metro Pizza at Ellis Island too. Been a few years since we got pizza from there. My last memory though includes a 10-15 minute wait and me standing at a bar on my own. Not very ladylike haha.

Not sure I'd want BOGOF, although at the Platinum it is possible to reheat it I suppose. Could always ask them to just lightly cook one of them!!

So, nvh - are you still not going this year?

we saw Back to the Future several places including Palazzo - didn't have any wins on it...or on Flashdance which was one of the other newer movie themed ones we tried...or Avatar, for that matter...and we tried Willy Wonka again and had the same result as last time, nada...so we've come to the conclusion that the film themed slots are a bit hit and miss...we like Iron Man though. :)

Thanks for your trip report- really enjoyed reading it. We also like Aria cafe and stopped by again this trip...it's a handy mid-strip option and they take mlife express-comps too.
Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?

    ANYTHING ELSE
we noticed a LOT of couples with young children - what’s that all about?! I’d imagine a few families were on road trips and only staying a night or two, but a lot seemed to be on a Vegas-only vacation. I don’t get why parents (including a lot of newborns/very young children) would go to Vegas for a holiday, must be really limiting and not particularly family-friendly. There seemed to quite a few Brits and Aussies in town, it didn’t seem any busier/quieter than other trips, though I think we’d prefer to go at September time, rather than April, just so the weather is a bit more guaranteed.[/QUOTE]

We first took our son when he was 4 and he came with us most years until he was 16 (3 years ago), he never got bored and we always found loads to do with him,we always had a car so many of the things we did were off strip, we usually added on LA, Sedona, GC, san diego etc etc but would always have at least a week in Vegas

we never found it a problem and he always enjoyed it

Secret machines, did you mean China Poblano at Cosmo? Your description sounds a bit like what we had there.

Thanks very much for your report. I always enjoy reading them.

You can always sit in a booth near Metro Pizza while you're waiting. Now they have moved the BBQ, that's where most people sit and eat or wait for their orders.
