Just received an e-mail from Encore
$129 a night Sunday through Thursday, 3rd night free and $200 resort credit. Also a complimentary upgrade to the Encore Resort Suite King room.
I can "Invite a friend" to this offer if someone thinks its worth their time. It's available up until 30th June. I am planning on a May trip so this looks good for me I think.0 -
Also check out Opodo for car hire. I had....
Duration of cover: 9 day(s)
Economy, Las Vegas

I hired a car from Hertz in 2010 for about 3 weeks, drove from North Carolina to Las Vegas. Can't remember how much it came to but remember thinking at the time it was a great deal. There are all sorts of promo codes floating around which knock huge amounts off the normal rates, and normally you can apply more than one as well. I think the Flyertalk forums are a good place to find current and ongoing rates.
Also, regarding the SatNav - I bought one from Target in America, used it for 3 weeks, then returned it with the receipt and got a full refund! So if you keep the box and all the instructions, it's worth giving that a try.0 -
When is it you are going in september?
we will hopefully be going on 29th sep for 10 days ish
would be good to meet you and pebbles in september
aw - we're not going to be there until mid-October..maybe next time - it would be nice to see you guys again.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -
And going off fuel prices, that's why I have a Camero SS (V8 with 425bhp
) booked for 1 week with Hertz which we will be using to drive to LA in, and then have a normal SUV for the 2nd week, hoping that a $20 tip might let us pick the biiiiig SUV (with Alamo)......
Figured at 20mpg, its a whole lot cheaper to do long drives out there than it is here !0 -

just be careful as if those codes are for booking direct with the car hire agencies in the US they will likely not include any insurance waivers which will be extra - and could be a lot extra.
anymore and thanks to this thread we book through a UK third party which includes insurance waivers and zero excess and are done with it...we used to book direct with US hire car agencies and decline the insurance as I have a US CC with primary rental car coverage as it used to be a significant savings, but it's not worth it anymore, the difference in price last time I checked is so small it's worth it to me to pay a little extra and know if something happens I hand the keys back and that's it...no faffing about with making a claim on my CC insurance, etc.
I know some buy 3rd party car hire policies and decline all insurances, but it's not something I've ever looked into and I'm not sure if I would think the savings were worth the loss of peace of mind.Does remembering a time that a certain degree of personal responsibility was more or less standard means that I am officially old?0 -

Hi everyone,
Friendly looking thread! For a few years now I have been taking a summer hol in New York, but fancy a change this year. Thought I would try Vegas as it is years (1990s) since I've been, so looking for some advice.
Will be going probably in August as that is when fees are lowest (I think). I reckon it will be hot, but I'm used to that. I will be travelling alone, and will be staying 2 (or maybe 3) weeks. I'm looking for good value for money, but also looking for a good hotel with good rooms as I will be spending some time in it. Will also need hotel with decent facilities as I will be wanting to use the pool, gym etc. regularly. Not all that concerned about the casino as I will be spending time walking around to other places etc.
EDIT - Needs to accept smokers.
Any advice on hotels/resorts to investigate would be welcome. Thanks.0 -
Mandalay Bay = Nice rooms, big pool, gym, and at the start of the strip so you get to do some nice walks
Cost, erm, that's for you to decide!0 -
we hired our sat nav from ebay for our America trip last year. Think it cost £20 for 3 weeks, so worked out perfect for us.0
