Almost finished my 4th dalek square which will be 20/36. K9 is next. And have had idea for dd1 - a sherlock holmes themed blanket. So far have thought of 221B; deer stalker; magnifying glass; violin scroll; hound; pipe so could do 6*6 unless anyone can think lf another 3 (dr who one is 9 different designs in 9 different colours) best get on with some of my other projects first though :-)

Are these knitted squares or embroidered, really sorry to ask but can't remember. The only other thing I can think of for Sherlock is drugs but I'm not sure you would want to include that in a blanket.

bmma. Your shell edging is exquisite

florenceem. Beautiful tea towels and your stitcheries on them are lovely. I'm sure the recipients will be delighted though they wouldn't be used as tea towels in my house::D

ailsb H8 is stunning and you're so clever to do the mount and frame yourself Also very :money:

dibuzz. Sorry to hear about your dog. Great new about the charity group

savvy. Jewellery looks very pretty. Can't wait to hear what you do with the clay pipe

dundeedoll. Could you do the word Elementary? Something to represent Dr Watson such as a stethoscope or a dr's bag with his initials? A waterfall for the Reichenbach Falls? The Sign of the Four?
  • Have just added a photo of yesterday's project which was 2 simple cards for Mother's Day plus 30 kits to make similar for my son's primary school class. The pupils will each write a poem and insert it into the card after they've assembled it.

    Hello everyone,

I have updated my list. After reading your comments (thank you for your kindness and encouragement) - I have decided to do the wee book of stitches - will do it alongside the learning sampler as I do a new stitch in it I will do one for the book. I have some 14hpi (or is now PC to say 14 count) in magic guide aida - so it will be easier to cut. Will do each stitch over two threads, so they will be a bit bigger. Will cut about a photo size piece - got the cutest photo album (well two) in a charity shop one time, so can use them.

So now my list looks like this, the commission I was going to do - the girl just wants a card - so have put it with the other wedding card/frames.

    1. Cross stitch journal cover - complete 22/01/14
    2. Parts 5-16 of learning sampler (part 5 & 6 complete)
    3. Address book cross stitch cover
    4. Blue sampler - part three (do it at work)
    5. Part one of herb alphabet
    6. Part two of herb alphabet
    7. Part three of herb alphabet
    8. Part four of herb alphabet
    9. Part five of herb alphabet
    10. Twisted band sampler - to be done in the memory of my Mum x
    11. Baby samplers for Claire & Rachel at work (Claires done)
    12. Wedding samplers for Iain, Fiona, Lynne & Marty at work (Iains done)
    13. Book of stitches - will do this alongside the learning sampler
    14. Exchange pieces - Easter and Christmas (Easter done)

Yesterday I ordered some threads from the seller on facebook - £6.70 for 20 - have got the other 4 in my stash. Will wait till pay day to buy my evenweave - thinking what is best - 28, 32 or 36. This is all to do the twisted band sampler in memory of my Mum. Was at my Dads last night - was showing it to him and my brother but they were "aye right, whatever".

Well off to make a lemon moroccan tagine thingy (http://www.bbc.co.uk/food/recipes/chicken_and_lemon_tagine_75608) I seen on the BBC food website this week and some chocolate cheesecake. Always try to make a meal from scratch on Sundays.

Keep well everyone, catch up soon.

    sweetcarer ;)

    PS thank you FOS :)

  • Dundeedoll. Looking forward to seeing the complete Dr Who. Sherlock Holmes brings to mind 221b (Baker St) and a Hansom Cab.
  • Sweetcarer.
Your list is perfect. Especially the work dedicated to you mum.
But yes, menfolk rarely show enthusiasm for such things.
I love my husband & he has no problem with my crafting, but he doesn't GET it like my sisters did.

    morning all
such beautiful makes youve all been doing.
Henry is incredible, i love the detail in it
the tea towels and coat hangers are lovely, great to make such useful things so pretty as it makes them a pleasure to use.
the cards look lovely anyone would be delighted to receive any one of them.
cant wait to see the dr who blanket once its sewn up, ive enjoyed looking at all the different squares ive seen for it sherlock blanket it sounds fantastic cant wait to see your results with that..

did a big out door make, me and DH spent friday and saturday working in the garden and bought some old scaffold planks to make a boxed in border for the bottom of the garden, we are really pleased with how its turned out.
i did buy some new wool/yarn at the weekend it was DH fault he drove me to the shops and told me id earned it for all the gardening, got some different yarn it has holes along one edge you knit or crochet into to make a ruffle type scarf, got some with a fake fur edge and made a crochet scarf for DD2s birthday and some red fishnet type and knitted a scarf with that, i think ill keep that one but need to get some more for a friends birthday in april to make her a scarf as well.

managed to print a skirt pattern off i was struggling with so hoping to sue some old fabrics up and make a couple of skirts this week
