Solicitors instructed to deal with the conveyancing for the remortgage. Hoping to get things wrapped up by start of July. We're using the same firm that dealt with the original purchase, which should hopefully save a few searches.
I've done a bit of decluttering but have no real motivation for much. The kondo decluttering thread on the OS board is very inspiring, by far the best decluttering ideology I've come across to date. sold one of my Gumtree items and listed 3 new ones to take its place. I've priced things low in the hope of shifting them. It saves me a trip to the charity shop (they've had tonnes of my junk from previous purges) and the money is being saved towards buying plants when we do the garden in the summer.
Whilst tidying the study this morning I found money that we were given for Christmas that I'd put safe, forgotten about, found, put safe and forgot about again. It would go some way towards a patio table and chairs. However it feels a bit premature when we won't have a proper 'sitooterie' for a while.
OH is being a bit of a wet blanket about the garden renovation plans, makes it difficult to have any major motivation for it myself.
I've put it back in a drawer for now.. chances are I'll forget about it again and we can have this groundhog day moment once more in a few weeks time :rotfl:know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Regarding gumtree, is it easy to use? Do people come to your house to collect things?Be who you are and say what you feel because those who mind don't matter and those who matter don't mind.

I quite like it on balance. For me, it is the best bits of ebay/car booting rolled into one. I don't want the faff of postage and fees that you get with ebay. I don't want my facebook friends seeing what I'm selling by using a facebook selling group. I can't be bothered to get up at silly o'clock to do a car bootsale where people want everything for 50p. Gumtree is a workable half way house.
You list your items along with photos of your item. Like ebay, the more honest and descriptive you are, the more interest your item will get and the fewer time wasters you seem to attract. You have the option to leave a phone number for people to contact you, or they can message you via Gumtree (which anonymously passes messages between your email inbox and that of your potential purchaser, without either of you ever seeing private contact details for the other unless you choose to share them).
Ads are free, although you can pay a premium to have them appear on each page. Free ads last for 30 days IIRC. I copy and paste my ads into a Word document, so if I need to re-list anything I can do so quickly and easily.
Up to now, I've used it for furniture items although I am branching into bric-a-brac type items. If you price things sensibly, you can shift most things. Trade is particularly brisk on the baby section for my county - you may be able to get some bargains for bump in your area too?
Very easy to use, only real downside is the potential for timewasters. I don't give out a phone number, and only release address once people have set a date and time to collect items. Most people who go that far through the process are genuine and turn up when they say they will.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -

Nice day yesterday. Hair cut, new phone and new skill (managed to eat a meal with chopsticks for the first time).
Today has also been reasonably productive thus far, with meals planned for the week, the food shop done, and a washload done.
now doing some marking so I can write reports (isn't teaching just a carousel of fun)?! I'm delivering a session to student teachers at the local uni tomorrow so need to get my notes together for that too. I'd probably best do some ironing as well so I don't turn up looking like a scarecrow.
Then to set some goals for June and write a mammouth to do list.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
