survived hell week and got rid of a few albatrosses from around my neck. VERY grateful for the breathing space of a 3 day weekend. OH working today and tomorrow so I have the house to myself to potter and mark. We'll spend BH Monday doing something more exciting, we've had very little quality time together in recent weeks.
roast lamb supper to look forward to at the outlaws tomorrow and hopefully there'll be time to catch up with friends of an evening and share a bottle of wine (or three)

thanks Al. As it turns out the marking just isn't happening today, and I don't feel the least bit guilty about it given the number of 16 hour days I've been working lately.
house looks tidier and am cooking up a storm to get ready for the week ahead. A new A$da has opened just down the road and they haven't perfected their stock levels yet so I've been able to pick up some great YS bargains at no more than 25p an item (no meat sadly but you can't have everything).
so 20p of chopped Mediterranean veg for roasting will be combined with a 20p garlic and herb boursin. We'll have that with cous cous or pasta for lunch tomorrow.
25p bag of mixed peppers chopped and frozen ready for use in stir frys, fajitas etc.
going to make a veg curry using 20p veg curry base pack, with YS sprouts that were a Christmas bargain and a tin of chickpeas for extra protein. That will do for tea one night in the week as OH has a number of late shifts this week.
tonight's tea will be veggie chilli using up what is in the cupboard.
Missed the ald! vouchers last month, don't think they ran the £5off£40 promo, so haven't done a big shop since March. Whilst I don't think we can reach the end of the month on top up shops alone, we can certainly manage another week or two by using up items that have languished unloved in our stores.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
It has taken a month but mothership has offered something which could be interpreted as an olive branch. This is the closest I'm likely to get to an apology. She is NEVER wrong about anything
part of me wants to stand my ground and make her realise how hurtful she has been. The logical part of my brain realises that this is an exercise in futility. I don't have the time or the energy for the aggro and heartache.
Outlaws are a walk in the park in comparison.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Good news on the mother front.
Great that your inlaws are easier.0 -

spoke too soon. I didn't respond to her text soon enough so she is being even more hurtful and rude via text than she was in the first place.
If I say nothing, I am in the wrong. If I stand up for myself, it will all be twisted around to be my fault and it will start world war 3know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Congratulations on getting your remortgage sorted out, I think there's a good chance that FD might be our next lender. That said, I doubt it will be for a 10 year fix!
Sorry you haven't managed to resolve things with your Mum, it is annoying when you become the 'adult' in a relationship, with a parent who acts like a mean child. Not speaking from personal experience, but we have a friend whose mother is a nightmare! :eek:0 -

thank you Ed. She can be so loving, and yet so difficult to love. The whole family are on eggshells around her just waiting for the next blow up.
I'm afraid to say I've bitten back. She has to realise that I will not roll over and die. I'm not having our kids grow up in the shadow of the constant bickering and family squabbles that marred my childhood.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Good for you, sometimes we need to have a bit of conflict, even if it hurts at the time!0
