i've listed some [STRIKE]junk[/STRIKE] treasures on gumtree this morning so can hopefully make some room in the room of doom as well as a few pennies. Can't be bothered with the faff of fleabay.

I would love to see a diagram showing concentrations of MFWers by profession - I suspect that it would be like a thin dotted trail of jobs followed by a massive blot of teachers at the end of the chart :rotfl:
I understand why. My Mum lasted a hard 10 years before she jacked it in...0 -

had planned to work miracles this weekend, but am absolutely knackered. Have decided to spend this afternoon pottering. Have neither the energy nor inclination for cleaning, but at least the house is looking a bit tidier.
another top up shop done, eating from stores is going well and is helping to keep spends low. Have only deviated from the essentials once or twice (9p haggis anyone?and a chicken for tonight's tea as L!dl's weekend special was not as advertised in my local store)
cannot believe the cost of petrol at the mo, don't think I can remember filling my tank for less than £40 since passing my test :money: Our little fiesta is only 1.4L so cheap to run on the whole. Some scrote has damaged my paintwork with a trolley though  Poor car is now a patchwork quilt of scratches.
Had some queries about my gumtree items so can hopefully shift some of them this week.
4 weeks till HT (and counting... am well and truly fed up of work at the mo). No plans as yet, although there are lots of jobs around the house to keep us busy.
Currently researching holibob ideas as OH has had his holiday requests approved. One idea is a package holiday to Turkey for Oct HT. We haven't done a beachy package holiday for 5+ years. Have found some reasonable AI deals flying from Bristol.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
Have bust a gut this week and am knackered. Work is bonkers. Half our faculty had a collective mini meltdown on Monday after work. The situation is grim, but there is some small comfort in knowing that everyone else is feeling exactly the same.
Was falling asleep on the sofa last night at 8pm. OH sent me to bed. Slept 12 hours straight through - I think my body is trying to tell me something?! So no marking for me today, I am on strike! Pottering around the house doing lots of little jobs as I have no energy for anything major.
End of January looms so am going to review my jobs list and see what I can cross off today.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0 -
big Aldi shop done to restock on the necessary items that will facilitate us shopping from home again throughout Feb. £42 after the voucher discounts, and our stores are pretty full once again. Food spends through Jan are around £90-£100. Other than a milk run that is us for the month.
I've syphoned the fuel and food money off as previously mentioned, although we won't see the leftovers this month as it will go towards clearing the last of the Christmas spending on the CC. Month one of paying ourselves first has been a success, and we'll repeat it again in February to see how things pan out.
This afternoon I have some essays to mark that I cannot ignore any longer. My mum is due over it a few hours for tea. We'll be having YS soup (90% discount... ta muchly MrM!) with HM bread rolls if all goes to plan. I found a slightly out of date Aldi bread bix in the cupboard. Going to use the dough hooks on my new kitchen mixer to do the hard work. First attempt at baking bread. Will report back with pictures if all goes well.
Pudding will be crumble using up blackberries that have been in the freezer since last summer, last week's slightly past it apples and a pack of crumble mix that was part of an approved food order about 2 years ago. We have custard powder and gallons of milk, so there'll no doubt be lashings of custard to go with it - viva la weekend! also going to try making some oaty banana bites to use up some sorry looking bananas.know thyselfNid wy'n gofyn bywyd moethus...0
