Daughter moved out - how long until I can 'box her things'?

I moved out 6 years ago after Uni and I still have a few bits in my old bedroom I think?! However they are in built in wardrobes in the room there's really not much left now just a couple of old sentimental bits but I was guilty of leaving stuff there for ages and collecting bits each time I was there. Many parents have no problem telling me to get stuff it's just it's hidden in the cupboards so we all forgot about it most of the time. I wouldn't have left stuff in the kitchen though! I love baking but I'd always clean up.
Just ask her to come round and go through her stuff and take what she wants and ask her to give the rest to charity/bin etc0 -
Thanks for all the messages! They have a 3 bedroom link house, we have a 2 bedroom bungalow!
That's it... I'll sort out the kitchen cupboards today and take the stuff with us when we go round on Christmas Eve. Time to decorate! (shame the sander is at her house!)DEBT FREE BY 60Starting Debt 21st August 2019 = £11,024

Word of warning, when I moved out at 24 into my lovely new flat I'd bought with my lovely boyfriend, I came back 9 months later.

When you are there, why not ask her which day she is coming over to clear out her bedroom? After all, now is probably the best time as most folks have a few days off during Christmas.weight loss target 23lbs/49lb0

I will admit that I still have some of my stuff (mainly books) in boxes at 'home' and I moved out about ten years ago! My excuse is that I rent so I don't have anywhere permanent to put it, but I know I'm going to have to sort it out soon as my parents are planning on selling and they don't need to be carting my stuff around. However, my mum is terrible and won't ever let me chuck anything away so it's a case of taking a few bits whenever I can and quietly disposing of it myself. Unless anyone wants a collection of dolls in national costumes?0

I can see this from both ends; my stepdaughter is moving out next month and I expect her to take everything that's hers. Her coffee pot, her salad spinner that's taking up space in our small cupboards, all her electric gizmos. On the other hand, I confess to still having about a thousand books in my bedroom at Mum's and I moved out 20 years ago. Better get myself organised there ..."Save £12k in 2019" #120 - £100,699.57/£100,0000

The instant they shut the door on the way out, I cannot wait til I no longer have mountain's of other peoples stuff to deal with, dealing with my own is hard enough.I don't get nearly enough credit for not being a violent psychopath.0

The week before I got married, my parents suddenly started packing my stuff up for me............ I'd kind of forgotten I was moving out at the same time

DH's parents traditionally turn up with a car full of all their kids old stuff when the particular kid buys a house
but not when they're students or in rented accommodation - this seemed reasonable to me. In contrast I've been gone from home 25 years and my mum finally just got round to clearing all my old stuff out of the attic because the house is being renovated. There wasn't anything taking up 'living' space though.
I'd say do a painting and use this as an excuse to box everything, ask her what she wants and put the rest in the attic if you have one, on the understanding that if she doesn't use it within a year it'll be taken to the charity shop unopened. That's ample time for her to emotionally detach from it

All the stuff belonging my 2 daughters (at uni now) is boxed up and in the loft
Did it the minute they left.
They are always welcome back of course!0
