  • Hiya Archer, thank You for reading and posting. The above is so me too. As soon as I have some spare cash, I have to spend it, instead of putting it to better use, like my debts. But we are not going to do that again, until are debts are clear and we have savings and an emergency fund........are we ?

    :)

    No agreed WE are not!

I always used to view my overdraft limit as mine too so paying it off has been very liberating. Even when I paid the money in to clear it my mind went ooh £500 what can I spend that on. :o

Glad you have formulated a plan? What's your Birthday present App? Sounds intriguing. We are very alike, I also rush out usually the day of the birthday in a panic. I am dreadful at birthdays so my main resolution is not to forget any this year.
Can I ever learn this budgeting lark? So far it's not looking promising

  • I have been on my internet banking this morning. I have 4 bank acct. Only use one, which is where my wages go in and my bills come out. So I am going to rename the other 3 and start adding to them. On one of them, its save the change. If I use my debit card, it rounds it up to the nearest ? (ill have to check) and puts the extra in to that account.

So I have 3 accounts that needs name and a purpose.

I have £100 to last me 2 weeks until payday again. No bills to pay out of it. All I think I need is Food and petrol

My food challenge to start off with is £40 per week but I have a lot of food in, so my challenge until payday in 2 weeks is £50. Ill post my progress daily. Petrol not sure I will need to see what jouneys I have planned. I walk to work and back and I can walk to my local shopping center which is about 25 min each way. More exercise, I need it, it will help get the Lbs off too.

Hope you had a lovely Christmas! Your planning is going well, like the sound of those apps!
  • Walking sounds a brilliant idea! It must be lovely to be able to walk to work etc. I am left speechless by so e of my colleagues who drive to work despite living in town. I have about 20 miles to work and it's unlikely it'll ever change much but I am really envious.

I have a couple of extra accounts, one is my present account which I put money into each month for birthday pressies etc. I have a hound account for his bills food, insurance excess if I need to claim on my insurance worming fleeing etc.
They are very basic accounts but work well.

Good plan though with the save the change account.

Happy New Year DF2014, hope your night shift went as well as possible! You sound so determined, and well done for setting yourself a budget for shopping. This is something I'm going to do more of this year!
  • Hi DF2014

Happy new year. I'm on day two of not spending any money as haven't been out of the door yet. All change on Saturday but hopefully get everything I need paid then.

I've also updated my sig with my total debt and DFD and also signed into a good challenge and have my goals for this month there too to keep me motivated.
    TOTAL DEBT - £10866.22/£450.06 PAID O/S £10416.16
CC - £174.69 - The rest is a family loan and other debts which are 0%
    August Grocery Challenge - £0.00/£250.00

  • £17 of my £20 budget spent :money: That should get me through till payday next Friday, may just need a couple of bits.

Joined Do I Need it or Just want it thread. That is going to be my Mantra.

I can get my teeth right into this once my payday arrives and the moment, just spending as least as possible
