Not boring at all, good to have a catch-up! So sad to hear about your friend. I'm pleased she has her parents and friends to support her.
chariliesaunt, that's great news about your weightloss. I never weigh at home and always use my clothes as a guide like you've done. When I was losing I bought lots of bits in the charity shops, let me experiment with colours and almost no money wasted on things that were going to end up too big in their turn. Are any of your 'big' clothes suitable for ebay?
I've decided to start making return appointments too. It's too easy to wait until my hair is unmanageable and then ring up when it's probably weeks later than it should be. I've already done it for my eyebrows at the beautician.
I also had a bit of a wardrobe clear out and taken them to the CS (in fact many of the things came from CS originally). Still got my 'everyday' wardrobe to sort and shoes.
I think I'm going to have to give up on black jeans. I really like the look but it seems after only a few washes they look scruffy. This has happened with 3 pairs in a range of prices.:( I've heard that some people use black dye to refresh them but that seems a faff. Any tips?
Delighted that I've regained my pre-Christmas weight and am back to healthy eating. I do enjoy holidays but it has been good to get back to a bit of normality this week, including food.0 -
Rummer- I know the feeling!! Think we could all do with a bit of sun, do you ever fake tan/ use gradual tanning moisturizer?
I have used it in the past however I became concerned about the amount of chemicals I was putting on my skin and decided to embrace my porcelain complexion. However what I see as pale and interesting others see as grey and ill :rotfl:
Today was clearly another makeup disaster too. My DD said to me "Mum are you wearing pink eye shadow or do you have sweaty eyelids?" I was wearing pink eyeshadow and I will clearly not be wearing it again :rotfl::rotfl:
However onwards and upwards, I am going to continue making an effort and will get there eventuallyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Haha sweaty eyelids! Bless! Children can be our harshest critics!!
I'm sll for pale and interesting but I thought the same as you- when I bought new foundation on Saturday she got me in shade zero!
WW Good luck with your busy plans! I will take a look at the TED link shortly, sounds intruiging![STRIKE]7lbs to lose [/STRIKE]

Rummer sorry but :rotfl: at sweaty eyelids
WW sorry to year about you're friends estranged husbandhope she and their son can get through this difficult time xx
LL shame about the cottage but def agree there will be something better out there.
Maman no idea about black jeans but I generally use colour washing powder on my dark clothes which I find helps with any fading.
Charliesaunt well done on your weightless. As for replacement clothes perhaps draw up a list of essentials you need. I do find some of the supermarkets reasonable for staples such as jeans etc.
Managed 7 minutes continuous running on the running machine. Doesn't sound a great deal but considering how unfit I am.....well am happy with that. Planning on slowly increasing the length of time for fear of overdoing it

I am a long time lurker and love reading this thread but just wanted to let Maman know that I buy black & brown dye from Wilkinson and successfully refresh the colour of my denims. I also use soap powder for colours as I think it helps to stop fading.0

Rummer sweaty eyelid :rotfl: did make me laugh.
LL Keep looking it's out there somewhere.
Maman Do you wash inside out? Can't really say I've had this problem but I think faded jeans look good too.
Charliesaunt Well done on losing weight:) tbh I'm still wearing clothes that are too bigwell not all of them but some as I just don't have the money to replace them and the charity shops round here aren't v. good.
Well today is the first day I've felt half human for a while. Still have sinus issues but feel a bit clearer today. My skin (on my arms) flared up again on Fri and I have absolutely no idea why - have tried to use gentle non- chemical things where possible but something doesn't agree. Have ordered some shea butter to whip myself with coconut oil so I can carry it with me when out and about. For now have had to resort to hydrocortisone but will stop asap.
Need to manage my time a bit more effectively and much more input to try and get business going is needed. There just aren't enough hours in the day with courses, family appt etc.
Off out for a walk in the sun now.

Hi everyone
I've been reading all your updates, congratulations to everyone with their fabbing, particularly Rummer, can't believe you're fabbing with a brand new baby!
I've been using the hot cloth cleanser from Superdrug for a week now and I love it. Because it's so nice it's really encouraging me to do a before bed routine and I'm taking much better of my skin. I went shopping on Saturday with some of my Christmas vouchers and bought some day moisturiser and new foundation, so I'm playing with that now. I've read it's best to apply foundation with a brush so I bought some new brushes too and I've been playing with them, but I'm not sure if I'm doing it right or not.
Next priority is to get out of jeans and trainers. I'm terrible at keeping up with laundry and planning my clothes in advance so I end up running around with 2 minutes to get dressed and grabbing whatever's easiest. I might even put on a dress tomorrow!
Hope everyone is feeling fabulous! Speak soon

Just dropping by to say Hello.
Not much news this end. Have spent today "on site" - meeting with electrician and then stripping wallpaper. Hard work so I shall count that as today's exercise…..
Charlie's Aunt - well done on the weightloss - that is fantastic.
Maman - do they still do Dreft Dark - not seen it for a while but that used to be good for black, navy etc. Otherwise I agree try the black dyes - Dylon are pretty good.
Treeny - well done on the experimenting. Yes, many professionals apply foundation with a brush. There are some great tutorials on U-Tube.
Using a brush to apply foundation is a great trick for helping to disguise large open pores. Basically you work the foundation in with the brush using small circular movements. Hope that makes sense.
Rummer - I can look pale and interesting at times - especially in the winter. People often used to tell me I looked tired and ill when in reality I felt fine. It's just my winter pallor.
I tried using a number of "hint of sun" type moisturisers but have given up with them. Like you I have concerns about the chemicals used. Even though I was very careful to avoid the eye area I found that my eyes became irritated. I also found the smell very unpleasant.
I now make do with tinted moisturiser and blusher. One of my all time favourites for adding colour is bronzing powder. It gives me a healthy glow.
I keep meaning to have a go with BB creams but haven't got round to it yet.
Lizzie - could your flare up be either diet or stress related.
I'm pleased to say my legs feel a lot better now. I had to resort to cortisone a couple of weeks ago but since using oatmeal in the bath my skin feels a lot better.
As well as adding it to the water, whilst I'm in the bath I also squeeze the oatmeal until it gets all gloopy and then massage the gloop into my legs whilst still in the bath. Sounds a bit yucky but it seems to be working.
I have also drastically reduced my wheat intake - don't know whether this is signficant or not but I can be wheat intolerant at times. Not sure if it affects my skin or not but my tummy is much happier without it.
I know this sounds a bit odd but I read somewhere that bathing every single day can also exacerbate excema type skin conditions.
I am currently trying to bathe every other day as a trial. I do of course make sure I have a proper wash on non bath days. :rotfl:
Right off to get some sleep - another busy day tomorrow.
PS - I will post up the wheat free biscuit recipes when I've tweaked them. I just haven't got round to baking again.0 -
Very excited by the fact that if I go to the gym at about 20:30 it's basically empty (yes I lead an exciting life). I've been going to the gym three times a week for months now, but I have a specific weight routine that I do and have found that when I go at my usual time straight after work I can never get a free bar or on the squat rack. I should really see results now I can do my full routine three times a week.
I'm giving OPI's Nail Envy treatment a go. Hopefully it will help my flakey nails.
A busy week at work this week. Will possibly have to do an all-nighter tomorrow which won't be the best for keeping myself looking good, but a great weekend lined up with a nice family meal out and a massage! No more goo hoarding!
