Hi Treeny and well done for committing to all your goals!! It's hard but at least you have people to talk to who are in the same boat
If it's any help, there are some workout DVDs you can use which are free/ cheap - one of the best I've tried is the Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred - free on youtube or I think the DVD is only £5 on Amazon. It's tough but to be fair effective! And if you find any of the moves tricky, you can always march on the spot or something until you can catch up again.
Do you comb Groupon, KGB vouchers etc for hair offers? I have the Brazilian keratin treatment done as my hair is thick and unmanageable otherwise - usually get the cut and treatment for about £70, and manage with a cheap (£20 or so) voucher haircut between those.
Good luck with your gym plans Teacher! I'm off to my dance class, should be burning some calories.....
Lesson, I think we all know the feeling when you step on the scales and it's very far from what you want to see!! And good luck with the expansion programmeFinally debt free!! March 2018 :j0 -
:j Lovely to see lots of new posters :j
Well I am now a double mummy after the early arrival of my sonhe is gorgeous and I am smitten! So I have a few weeks of relaxing and TLC to look forward too before the weight loss begins in earnest.
Just before I gave birth I was 13st 8lbs and now I am 12st 7lbs so only a stone to go before I am at my pre-pregancy weight. However that is not the focus of my life at the momentand I am not going to bother weighing myself again until I have been a mummy for 6 weeks and then I will take that as my starting figure.
In the interim I am focussing on getting to know my son and taking care of my family while drinking loads of water, filling up on fruit and veg and keeping up a simple face and body care regime. Dressing is a bit tricky at the moment as I am between maternity clothing and my own clothes however if I keep on top of the laundry I have enough to look presentable while also being comfyTaking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Good Morning All
Hi Treeny - welcome to Fab School - stick around and, like Maman and WW , you will soon be graduating with honours!!!!
Well ladies as the title above suggests this week it's Back to Basics for me. I've been a bit complacent of late so it's time to get a grip.
I know I've posted recipes for my potions and possets before, however, for the benefit of the newbies I will pop them up again. As I do I will put them in a separate post rather that in with the chatter, that way it's easier to cut and paste them for your own records.
Most of my recipes are cheap or "free" - using basic ingredients you will find in your kitchen cupboards. Of course if you google you can find loads of recipes out there.
For the newbies - Back to Basics is quite simple. We just go back to the beginning and start with just one treatment per day until we are all caught up. This way we don't get overwhelmed and it is an easy way to establish regular routines.
Most of us are busy people who rarely have time for an indulgent 2 hour pampering session - ooh wouldn't that be lovely. However, with a bit of careful time planning and juggling we can usually find 30 minutes per day.
That 30 minutes might not be all in one go - you might need to split it into 3 x 10 min slots.
So the back to basics plan is that you find a min of 30 mins per day just for you - about 15 minutes of exercise and 15 minutes for a little beauty treatment.
You can of course combine the two - a bit of yoga whilst slapping on a face mask. :rotfl:
Multi-tasking is what we are good at after all.;)
This week I am really going to focus on my skin, it's like an old crocodiles…….So, lots of treats and plenty of slathering……
.
Today I started with a deep exfoliating cleanse with my own homemade recipe.
See next post for the recipe.
I know we are not supposed to give medical advice but I think this will be ok. You know I have had stiff and aching knees recently. Well I've found something to ease the pain.
It's the new Volatrol maximum strength 12 hour gel. (Emulgel P 2.32%). You do need to ask the pharmacist for this and obviously all the usual rules apply about contra-indications because it does contain Diclofenic. It has helped me enormously - obviously losing wieight will help me even more:rotfl:
Anyway I have an exciting day planned - a trip to the tip and then food shopping.
Life in the fast lane:rotfl:0 -

Bi-Carb Exfoliators
Bi-carb is cheap and gentle, and non allergic.
You can simply wet your skin and apply a small amount of bicarb and gently massage into skin and then rinse off or you can add it your normal cleansing lotion or cream. Again rinse off with clear warm water.
Dead easy.
I use it no more than once a week. However if your skin is very oily and prone to comedones (black heads to you and me) then twice a week should be ok.
Be sure to avoid delicate areas around the eyes.
If you are worried about sensitivity or if you have dry skin on the cheek area then just use it on the centre panel focussing on the chin and nose.0 -

Thank you all for the congratulations
I have been taking reasonably good care of myself over the last few days which has kept my mood up. Every day I have popped on a bit of makeup, styled my hair and worn smart/casual clothes.
The food consumption has been good in relation to the amount of fruit and veg I have consumed however I am still falling into the sweetie trap at night so I have mentioned to OH that we should increase our dinner portions and have a healthy snack later in the evening to stop me grazing and hunting for sweeties. I have also been drinking loads and loads of water
Over the next couple of days I am going to try and go for a short walk although I am still tender along my section incision and don't want to over do things. Maybe a turn round the block or garden would be enough.Taking responsibility one penny at a time!0 -
Rummer congratulations :T:T well done on the birth of your son. Enjoy your baby cuddles
Teeny welcome to the thread. My most recent cheap potions is oat milk cleanser. It's dirt cheap and contains no nasty chemicals. You need dried skimmed milk powder (basics brand is fine) and oatmeal/oatbran which you can find in the cereal aisle.
Mix equal parts together in an air tight jar and scoop out a small amount add a bit of water to make a paste and rub it all over your face. I use it every morning and my skin feels lovely
LL so lovely to hear the Phoenix rising again
No major fabbing, just the usual. Downloaded a HIIT app which is good but the chesticles are tender thanks to the coil (which is due to be replaced) so any jumping about tends to be a bit uncomfortable
Don't feel like I have enough hours in the day at the moment
Hope everyone is safe and dry with all this rain and flooding xxI have a gift for enraging people, but if I ever bore you it'll be with a knifeLouise Brooks
All will be well in the end. If it's not well, it's not the end.Be humble for you are made of earth. Be noble for you are made of stars0
