Hi everyone, can I please join? I really need to do something with myself, its disgusting how much I've let myself go. I used to always get my hair done, nails, tan everything, but since having ds 6 and a half years ago and being a single mom I just don't seem to have the time, money or energy to do all the things i used to do.

I need to lose 7 stone!! need to do something with my face as even though i'm in my late twenties I still get spots. My hair is starting to go grey but i'm allergic to hair dye, no hairdresser will touch it because of this and I'm too scared to dye it myself as the reaction I get is really bad.

basically everything about my appearance needs sorting out! from head to toe!

my weight is where I really need to start, I'm only short and carrying around an extra 7 stone is making me so tired all the time and out of breath. I have the zumba dvds and toning sticks, loads of dance work out dvds, dumbbells and a treadmill at my df house that i could use any time i want, so i have no excuse really, i guess I've just been too lazy in the past. I'm really going to try to do the zumba workout at least twice in the coming week.

sorry for the long post, i just thought if i posted on here it might make me more focused, well thanks for reading and i hope you are all having a great weekend.

Welcome Lil-mama, do you know what ingredient(s) you are allergic to. You could look into the more natural dyes like Naturtint, henna or the new ammonia free ones and just do a little patch test. The salon I go to has L'Oreal INOA which is ammonia free.

Well took the christmas decs down yday- home doesn't half look bare! Just off to gym- spinning class this morning before I take to the desk to work all day! Will do nice long 'back to school' bath this evening/ nails/ hair wash/ eyebrows etc. Gutted i've woken up with a real headache- think it could be hormone related but I'm just going to soldier on and hope it disappears!

Want to Be - so pleased that you had a great time:D

lil_mama - hello from a newish girl around here, stick around, lots of support and advice.

Having made the decision to give yourself an overhaul, hopefully you will already feel a little better about yourself. In terms of excercise, I would start gradually and build up, if you have a few days with doing some stretches everyday and moving at every opportunity, lots of walking up stairs and walking of spot while waiting for kettle etc, will get you going while you see what you can realistically fit into your life.

I believe that diets only work for a short time and as soon as you relax, the weight (plus extra) goes back on, but healthier eating, smaller portions and planning will work, take longer, but hopefully last a lifetime.

Hopefully others will have some ideas re your hair, but if you can tell us what style suits you, how much time/money you have to maintain it and we might be able to offer some options. :D

    Morning All :)

Thanks for the comments about my night out. I feel even better this morning because it only cost £22 for the meal and drinks, due to being Alcohol Free :)

I have been thinking this morning about weight loss. I only have 13lbs to lose, so realistically, it could be done in 13 weeks if i put my mind to it. I am of the same school of thought as maddiemay- i dont believe in 'diets'. For a long and healthy weight loss, it's about changing your eating habits.
All i have to do is not eat so much chocolate and crisps.

I keep staring at my nails this morning! They have some lovely nail polish on. Nothing too obvious, just a pinky pearl colour, but it really makes a difference to how they look :)

Delighted to hear you enjoyed yourself and very mse too! You can afford to go again!;)

Welcome mama. If I were you I'd start with healthy eating alongside any exercise you can fit in. Both will make you feel good alongside any weightloss benefit. So make yourself a meal plan for the coming week (or week after if you've got stuff in you have to finish off). Focus on lean meat and fish, loads of vegetables, fruit, some plainish carbs (i.e. not doused in cream or fat), fruit and loads of water! I agree with WantToBeSE to an extent in that I don't believe in faddy diets but (and I know I could bore for England here:o) I am a Slimming World convert. If you look up their sample 7 day plan you'll see it is based on healthy eating. When you start losing weight you'll feel so much better about yourself and then start to address the other things. I know, I've been there.:D

I've been busy with Christmas decs. today too. Took most down yesterday but DH helped sort out the tree and lights today and did a bit of cleaning afterwards. I love the way how bare the house looks. It makes me think about what else I could declutter.

I've had a shower and a bit of a pamper this morning and read the paper as well so all in all a productive day so far. I'm going to sort out some bits for the CS later. I've somehow got back to having drawers and cupboards full of stuff I rarely wear. Understandable with smart/evening and beach stuff, I don't mean that. I seem to be focused on 3 new tops, 2 new cardies and a couple of pairs of jeans that I bought recently. Admittedly it has been holidays so haven't worn many skirts or dresses but I need a sort out.

Two treatments planned for this week, both mse. Tomorrow I'm having my eyebrows waxed. They only charge about £6 and I think it's well worth it. Thursday I'm having my nails done again with a Groupon voucher for mani/pedi. I'm a shellac convert except that it's a bu**er to get off. This week I'm going to give a pale pink a go on my hands but I'm going to have normal polish on my toes.

I'm out of Groupon vouchers at the moment so I'll be looking hard at what comes up.

Have a good day all. Still cold, wet and miserable here although no danger of flooding thank goodness. Keep safe all.:A

maman I love shellac! So glossy and long lasting!

Welcome lil_mama! Baby steps but remember actually deciding you want to make a change is a huge step. Now time to form some good habits!
What kinds of activities do you enjoy that could help you to be more active? Doing something you actually look forward to is a big help.

Just taking a work break for lunch and a spot of hoovering. Living on the edge or what ;)

Just a quickie - in a bit of a rush right now.

Just want to say hello to Lil Mama and a bit of advice re the hair. Have a look at Daniel Field hair colours - completely natural. As far as know they are only available in salons. For diy treatments look at "Herbatint" - you can get them online or from herbalists and health shops. Depending on your hair colour and how much grey there is then henna is also good but very messy.

I have similar problems and cannot use any chemical hair dyes. I used henna for years but now that my hair is predominately white I have any colour treatments done at the salon and insist on natural vegetable based dyes.

Will be back for a chat later……

Want to Be - so glad you enjoyed your night on the town…..The first of many I hope.:rotfl:

    Must dash…….
  • Not a good start to the New Year as Mum was taken into hospital on New Years Day. She's having a scan tomorrow for a blood clot but the treatments they've given her so far seem to be working as she seems better. My scalp has been very itchy. I might look into those hair colours LL as I'm due highlights and I don't want to irritate it even more. Off to yoga tomorrow as my sore neck is much better.
