LL - Love 'Jettison the Junk January', that is great positive thinking. It also made me think about my word for the year - PRODUCTIVE

The amount of time I have wasted watching TV and playing facebook games when I should have spent the time studying (I am doing a distance learning accountancy), or doing something useful/healthy.

  • Jettison the Junk January

No Junk Food - eat clean and healthy
No Junk TV or idly surfing the internet - they just waste time
No Junk people - avoiding people who drain me or drag me down
Sort out paperwork, wardrobes, cupboards etc

I'm going to clear the decks ready for action. Then I can work from a place of order and calm.

My wish list for this year is long, and at first glance, pretty daunting. So remembering our old friend the elephant I shall break it down into monthly mini goals.

    This month I will

    1. Lose 4-6lbs
    2. Join a fitness class, probably pilates
    3. One outing or fun activity per week
    4. 30 minutes exercise per day
    5. 5-7 fruit and veg per day

For me effective time management will be the key to achieving success this year. I need to "find" some extra time.

To help me get organised and stay focussed I've bought a page a day diary, a small handbag diary to carry with me, an accounts book, and a couple of notebooks.

Lessonlearned - This is wonderful, very inspiring :) - I love your post!
I am planning to follow your lead and de-junk January 2014

No Junk Food - eat clean and healthy
No Junk TV or idly surfing the internet just a waste of time
No Junk people - avoiding people who drain me or drag me down
Sort out paperwork, wardrobes, cupboards etc

...and mini-monthly goals for me too. This month I will

    1. Lose 4lbs
    2. Moisturise every day
    3. Be strong and force myself out all those very scruffy and unflattering but oh-so-comfortable clothes and shoes

Using a diary and notebook too!

Sorry to be a copy cat but really inspired by your ideas!

Well ladies, I've been out for a good dog walk and then forced myself to go for a run. Just 25 mins but better than nothing. Slow but kept going and feel loads better for it.

Feel Christmas-fat but am determined to lose the bloat ASAP. So after today its a no-booze policy for a week or two (may be going out tonight) and strictly healthy food only.

Just waiting in for my shiny new iPhone to be delivered and then will pop out to the shops and to get some groceries - the Christmas food has either been eaten, binned or put in the attic (I know, but if I can see sweets I'll eat them) and so there's no excuse to not be good. Just need to buy some fruit and veg and make a start. Think I'll make a Mexican potato bake for tea - an old slimming world recipe but very nice and filling - full of veg and healthy.

Right, time to take the tree down and have a good hoover round (more calorie burning!)
    xx
  • WW - my day is going to be pretty much the same as yours but without the 25min run!
I too am on a healthy eating regime. One of the young girls at work has recently lost a stone following SW and has given me her books to look at so I have made a start today. My aim is to lose 12lb over the next couple of months or so.

Right must get on with some tidying up then later I going to have a little fabbing me time.
    Have a good day all.

I hung out on this thread many years ago. I think I could do with some help again as little if anything stuck. So trying again...my big push this year is to reduce our mortgage, continue building my confidence with my horse (which collapsed after an accident 3 years ago and which I've finally admitted to) and to live a simpler life.

I totally loved the 'Jettison the Junk January' phrase as am currently doing a major declutter. I'm borrowing that phrase for the month LL and will subscribe to thread for inspiration on looking less bedraggled!
Made it to mortgage free but what a muddle that became

In the event the proverbial hits the fan then co-habitees are better stashing their cash than being mortgage free !!

Love this list could definitely do with adopting them.

Am fasting today. Haven't been in the right mindset to do this last few months but am determined to make it a part of my way of life
My jojoba oil arrived so oat and milk cleanser used and moisturised with jojoba. Also am making more effort to use my coconut oil all over, my skin has def looked better for it.

Fasting is now part of my routine and I feel better for it and best yet have managed to keep all the weight off for 6 months without too much effort. People are always asking f I've lost more weight and telling me I look too thin! Can't win :rotfl:Jojoba sounds good might give it a try. Am still trying to get my skin back on track but it's looking and feeling a bit better.
LL - great plan! Isn't it good to make a list and be able to cross things off rather than have things buzzing around your head and feeling overwhelmed.

Oooh I love a good list I find it really helps me focus!

Well had the council round re upgrading the heating which on the surface sounds great but will incurr a fair amount of costs to us re carpets and floorcovers and decorating. At least 2 of our carpets definitely won't stand up to being rolled back! I know we should be grateful and I'm torn but we have just had our boiler serviced by the same council and it was fine and we just don't have the spare cash to sort out the mess. They will give us a bit for decorating but it won't cover it all. I think they should use the money on repairs etc someone needs - I need to think about it :(
have a cold atm and can't think straight.
My new routines will have to wait till Mon when kids are back at college/ school and hopefully I'll feel a bit better by then!

    Happy new year!

I remember Mexican Potato Bake, it's yummy. I printed off your recipe ages ago. It's going on next week's meal plan.:) The mse in me finds it so hard to bin the junk left after Christmas but I'm certainly not planning on eating any of it. I'm hoping DH will gradually work his way through the sweet stuff and crisps but he's complaining of his enlarged waist!

Tomorrow I'm going to do my meal plan and shopping list for the coming week and it'll be a joy to get back to normal, healthy eating.

Today I've had a lovely day catching up with 3 first cousins (only have 4 and the other lives in Phoenix!) and their families. I don't see them often and it was a joy to have a get together that didn't involve a funeral! We had a good walk and a lovely meal but unfortunately it meant that the day I'd planned NOT to drink didn't work out that way. I think it's going to be Twelfth Night that I really get back to normal life.

Lovely compliments from my cousin about how slim I was looking;) 2.5 years down the line it still delights me. Also, (and apologies if this sounds vain) but obviously know the ages of all my cousins and their partners and I'm certainly not the youngest. I was delighted with the condition of my skin compared with theirs. My cousins are all outdoorsy types (walking, sailing, allotments) but they looked really lined and weathered.Keep using the moisturiser ladies!!:D

I'm planning on getting myself an iphone as part of my 'thinking' strategy as I will definitely need to learn how to use it! I understand that Apple do lessons in their shops. Is it an Apple that you're waiting for ww? My problem is that all my IT knowledge has been on a need to know basis and (a bit like my washing machine:o) I'm sure there are loads of things about my phone, desktop, laptop. tv etc. etc. that I could be doing/using but I've never learned how. How does everyone else manage?

I'm definitely going to have a wardrobe sort-out this month. I've decided that lots of my stuff is a bit past it both fashionwise and rather worn. If it doesn't make me feel good then it's not staying. How many gardening/DIY/dog-walking clothes doe s a person need? And I don't even have a dog!:rotfl:

Loving the vibrancy on the thread.:A

maman - its an Apple iPhone - it got delivered yesterday and I took it to the Vodafone shop to get numbers etc transferred across (they have a special machine that copies everything over in seconds). The man gave me a quick run through on how it works and to be honest its quite self explanatory - you won't have a problem.
I've downloaded Myfitnesspal and Runtastic for it and have started using them again. About time too, I weighed this morning and am not thrilled. I need to lose half a stone to be happy again. Starting today!
I've been for a walk with the dog and will do some more vigorous exercise later - honest!

Going to try to sort out the wardrobe later - its desperate now. I'll also write a shopping list and go to the local shops for supplies - greengrocers, bakery etc to pick up some bits. Going to the supermarket will only result in me buying naughty things as there's too much choice. May even walk there and back - a round trip of about 50 mins. Will see what the weather is doing first though. Its not nice out there!
