House fabbing done this morning, seem to be over my virus at long last. Gym yesterday, felt good afterwards, but whacked, not good having to miss a week. Hair cut this afternoon after trip to market, need to get dressed and made up, but the weather is foul and I will walk back home, so it will be full and most unglamorous storm trooper kit and walking boots - I hate wet feet and am not going to spoil my lovely red boots in the rain. I hate to think what state hair will be in when I get back though:rotfl:
Swallowed one of my frogs and have made appointment at hearing clinic for next week, one of my aids seems to have died (just as well I live in detached house LOL)The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Happy New Year everyone, lovely to see so many new people joining the thread and wanting to improve their lot. So many inspirational words and thoughts. Up until yesterday I have still been pretty much in holiday mode, where one day just blends into another and constantly cooking, serving up food and drinks; eating mince pies and chocolate in front of the TV. Now I'm over it, the decks have been cleared, tree and cards are gone, fridge cleaned out, chocolates put away and a new chapter can start.
I have done quite a bit of reading these past few days, a couple of 'good health' magazines and I have made a lot of notes; aspirational quotes, recipe ideas and the likes and done lots of similar thinking to what I have read from you all here over the past couple of pages, so that's good and I am feeling all fired up!
Of all the things I wrote down, my word I have chosen for myself is Rescue; I mean rescue in terms of taking care of and nurturing myself and getting my own life on track. I have next to no social life and really want to make an effort to get out more, go at least once a month to do something, go to the cinema, a show a concert or event, plan a holiday. Yesterday I persuaded OH to take me out to a new cafe for a nice breakfast.
I want to take control and rescue myself from the 'victim' mode; look for new ways of dealing with old situations that I find myself in at work and at home in terms of being 'the lady that does'. I want to rescue my health and fitness, make better food choices and generally look after myself.
Today it's the regular touch up at the hairdressers; general blitz of the house and shopping for some healthy lunches and dinners for the coming week.
Hope you all achieve your dreams for 2014; it's going to be fab!!!Mortgage

Hi everyone!
I have been neglecting myself for the last couple of days with being back at work. I feel really quite rubbish. So tonight I am having a lovely bath with my indulgent bubble bath and I will read my book
I hope everyone is well

Good evening everyone
Just a quick catch up, it's been a busy couple of days.
I have made a start on "Jettison the Junk January", have written up my handbag diary and just need to do my big page a day diary now. Have got all my files out ready to start the paper work blitz.
Today I went to the library, borrowed a fitness cd, and a load of "inspirational" books. I have also booked myself in to a pilates class starting next Friday. I have even managed to walk and do some exercise.
It's truly amazing how much extra time I seem to have found now that I'm no longer wasting my life watching Junk TV.
This is going to be my year.

Let's go for it ladies.

Good morning everyone, not sure I can believe it, but is actually not raining at present and not much forecast for today, must shift body and get going, potential for meeting up with friends for coffee and cake this morning.
I am feeling kinda chipper, though really tired, treated myself to rather more than my usual trim and blowdry yesterday and now have bright pink highlights in my hair. Hair is a chin length bob and since I let it be it's natural colour I am lucky enough to have very light grey hair at the front with dark streaks on the sides getting more streaky to the back, I am regularly asked who colours my hair LOL, but now it has amazing bright and paler pink stripes. I love it!!!!!!!, OH was a bit shocked, but is happy that it makes me feel good and says he will get used to it (he is rather conventional), next step is facing 80+ year old mother, I love her, but she does have an opinion about everything and can be quite vocal about it, I shall just smile and take it, because I don't give a dam about the opinion of others, shame it's taken me over 60 years to get to this state of mind:rotfl:
Sorry about the ramble ladies, just needed to share my delight. The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time. (Abraham Lincoln)0 -
Love the sound of the hair Maddie - good for you!
Been out for a good long walk with the dog to blow away a few wine cobwebs that somehow manage to creep in last night.....:o
Need to do a load of marking today (why do we always leave it until just before school starts again?) and tidy out the wardrobe (this week's small job).
Will also continue with my cooking from scratch (for me anyway that means no microwave meals and actually using pots and pans) - made a nice sweet chilli quorn, veg and noodles concoction last night.
On the fab front - will get out for another long walk later with the pooch and maybe go for a swim. Will also pop to Boots to pick up some more nice shampoo whilst its on offer, its making a real difference to my hair and scalp.
Hope everyone has a good day x0 -
That sounds lovely Maddiemay - good on you for daring to be different. I had my roots done today and a good cut and conditioning treatment, so looking all sleek and lovely again. Put a facepack on this evening whilst doing ironing and then had a bath to avoid getting hair wet, scrubbed and pampered my tootsies and put new nail polish on.
Despite best efforts at self sabotage with chocolate, wine and puddings most days over the holidays I was equally delighted to find that I actually lost half a pound since I last weighed myself three or more weeks ago. I have no idea how that happened but most likely from being at home, pottering about doing odd jobs and moving around rather than sat on my butt in the office.
I have done a mammoth sweep and clean up outside on the patio and deck today too, so that's all good exercise.Mortgage

Some great fabbing going on ladies. Not a word from mother about my hair, she just didn't mention it even when her neighbour popped in and said "love your hair" to me. I will find out in due course if she mentions it to the rest of my clan. Spent an enjoyable couple of hours with her and did some little chores for her and caught up with the comings and goings in her road. I think that Ma might be realising that we don't tell her things rather than risk criticsm, the number of times my sis or I begin a sentence with "I haven't told mum......" is really funny.
OH had a good cycle ride, he is amazingly fit for his age, which is fantastic, miss MM is curled up on settee and I am going to be lazy and read for a while, I am sure the fridge or freezer will yield something for supper, I love cook two freeze one meals, such joy to eat HM, but only have to re-heat.The best thing about the future is that it comes one day at a time.
