I need to shift some pounds also (just because I need to and also the possibility of a bubba in a year or two).

Thinking of the most money efficient way to go about it. I am a fussy eater and need to get more disciplined in taking lunch to work.

Would love to see the PM going around if possible, and I will also take a look at the website mentioned.

    Just my twopennorth !

Over consumption of fat is obviously a factor in weight gain and is not healthy, but, in my experience over consumption of carbohydrates is the main problem.

3 years ago I had got up to 18 stone but shed 3.5 stone in 8 months just by cutting carbos down to a very small amount . I no longer get the urges for lots of spuds and bread as my blood sugar has leveled out .

I just eat all the dishes I used to but keep the carb element low and bulk out with veg and pulses . My weight has not altered from 14.5 stones in 2.5 years .

    PS, I still like a drink !

    I've been Money Tipped!
    Just a quick recipie -

my kids call it 'Coolie' (I have no idea why)

    Chopped up Carrot x4, Courgette x1, Onionsx2
    Tin Tomato x1
    Veg Stock Cubex1
Just mix up & cover with water and leave on for about 40 mins!

Very Simple plus you can add more of something or extra bits like kidney beans, herbs mushrooms etc. Very cheap and can be frozen!

WeightWatchers is ok but don't buy all the stuff in supermarkets as it's not exactly cheap.

Ask yourself this, go back 20 or 30 years how did people cope. They bought fresh stuff and cooked and baked at home and walked to the shops to buy the ingredients. These days everything is in packets, jars and ready meals. 4 ready meals at £3 each is £12

£12 in a supermarket buys a pack of chicken (£5), rice/pasta and enough stuff to make a sauce

But cooking has been made a specialist subject. Why??????? can we not all follow a recipe, we have it there i front of us in black and white. What you need and how to make it.

To be able to cook has ben made a thing that you have to learn yet we all know a few basics, even if it's how to cook meat or rice or pasta. So let's get cooking.
  • I'm asking for some advice about WW recipes. I've recently cut my shopping bill by quite a bit not through necessity but because I was wasting a lot of food and money. I did this through mainly cooking in bulk and freezing. This i found suited me as i also work shifts and could just take a meal out of the freezer.

However i have now joined WW and a lot of the foods I cooked before are not really suitable for me ie lasagne, spag bol etc. I've looked through past threads but I couldn't really find any recipes. I'm looking for nice easy meals that will be suitable for the family and 2 kids aged 3 + 1 but mainly ones that don't cost the earth as I am now paying out for WW which is £5.50 per week

Any advice gratefully received. Thanks MP

    Hi there

I was a WW... now doing it on here with Frogga and lots of others instead , i will have a dig around as i still have boxes yet unpacked...somewhere in there i have a WW cook book (sold all the others)... in the meantime i have the WW scales..so if you get stuck -just PM me with what ingredient it is and how much and i will find out how many points there are in it...

just realised i have quite a few books that had cals/fat listed - so i pointed them with the database..will check through.... list you some recipe names and if any take your fancy i will give you the full recipe:D
    -6 -8 -3 -1.5 -2.5 -3 -1.5-3.5
  • I have some lovely WW pasta recipes - but not sure how they freeze...I tend to freeze things like shepards pie etc (and am terrible for ordering a take-away after a couple of glasses of wine, even when I have plenty of food at home!)
    Is it payday yet?
