Can you drop me a PM too?

I'm thinking of joining WW & I will need simple, easy, quick meals to prepare. I bought a slow cooker in Comet last week, as I like the idea of coming home to it all done.

AFAIK, they are starting a new pay monthly system on Monday. £17.95 per calender month (no weeks off for holidays or sickness), but works out £4.14 per week & free access to the esource is also included.

    What do you think?
    I'm thinking of doing it.
You pay by DD, you prob have to pay the first month in cash to the group leader, as a DD takes a while to set up??

  • Hi All you dieters

I just wanted to give weightlossresources.co.uk a plug as I have just lost 4st+ since January & it is sooo much easier than weightwatchers & much better if you like to cook meals from scratch & it is only £9pm compared to £5 pw. It is there for you 24hrs, the help team are great & the support boards are good to.

My fav part of the site is the recipe builder, add all your ingredients, portion sizes and it gives you the calorie allowance for each. It also enables you to fiddle with the recipe to lose a few unwanted cals.

Speaking as an experinced dieter (i was put on my first diet at 10yrs old) & have tried every diet going calorie counting is definately the best especially if you choose not to eat all the chemical laden diet food that these so called clubs like to ram down your throat!!

You can try a 3 day free trial so give it a go & lose that weight for good!!
    Good Luck

oops forgot to say the exercise part if fab to this has been key & you can even earn extra calories to eat from mopping the floor, ironing & mowing the lawn. Kill 2 birds....

    Former WWer here!

I used to make a 0pt soup by chopping up some onion and garlic and 'frying' in low-cal spray oil to soften for a bit, then chucking in a tin of tomatoes. Give it a bit of a bash to squash the tomatoes down a little, then add water - I use half a tin or so, but add as much as you'd like. Then simmer for 15-20 minutes to make sure all is cooked through.

    Free on both WeightWatchers plans.

A former WW'er here too (only former as I am pg, baby due mid Sept, will be back on that wagon in Dec ish  ).

I found WW on a budget really easy as we didn't buy many treaty type things. Also I am veggie so didn't eat any meat.

    Breakfasts:
Almost always smart price cereal (Asda Fruit and Fibre)
For a treat boiled egg and toast

    Lunches:
    jacket potato and beans
    soup and crackers/ricecakes
    salad
    pasta salad
    rice salad

    Dinners:
    - pasta with roasted veg or spinach and mushroom
    - homemade veggie chilli
    - homemade veggie spag bol
    - quorn roast dinner with spuds and veg
    - omelettes and potato wedges
    - homemade veg curry and rice (I am not too good at curry though!)
    - eggs, beans and fried potatoes
    - pasta salads

I followed the No Point plan thing and was only supposed to snack on fruit. I bought bags of Smart Price apples, pears, bananas and so on. In the evening I would have chopped fruit with natural yoghurt over the top. And water to drink or cups of coffe and tea. It did get a bit dull to be honest but I lost 3 stone in 8 months without struggling too much.
    Good luck
Jan GC: £202.65/£450 (as of 4-1-12)
    NSDs: 3
    Walk to school: 2/47
    Bloater challenge: £0/0lbs

    Hiya,

I'm doing weight watchers, although I have followed points - i think it suits me better as I don't eat at home every night of the week (parents-almostish- in law).

To be honest, I eat what I like, and if I fancy something, I have it. I don't feel like I'm on a diet, just enjoying what I eat now. Whereas before I ate something for the sake of it, or if I was bored (which was a big thing for me!) now I eat it to enjoy it.

I don't have specific recipes for the no count but I imagine you could have, for example, a lovely roast with most of the trimmings (some which aren't free you could use your weekly points) and anything like that. I use my slow cooker a lot for chicken.

I would also second the free soup. I like carrot and corriander.
You fry the onions in a little water with a lid on the pan and add some corriander and cumin and then the carrots and some stock.
I'll get the exact measures and type them out for you later.

Good luck, and Jill, congratuations :)

Another vote for weightlossresources! Give it a shot. Sign up for the free trial (and it is free - you don't need to put in card details) and you can search thousands of good recipes or make up your own. It is great that you can put in recipes you have made for years and see how they add up in cals.

It is the ideal way to combine weightloss and old style living I think.

I did weight watchers for a while and found it hard to eat in an OS way, most of the foods that are popular are prepacked or processed low fat stuff.

It is up to everyone to find the best way but it is great imo :T
