Our local tip has a thing for textiles recycling. Usable garments are exported to Africa where people wear them, and stuff that's no good for that is shredded to make stuffing for sofas. Best of all, you do not have to decide what's usable for the Africans and what's only good for shredding. You put it all in the textiles bin and they sort it for you.

Will definitely bear this in mind Lois, thanks for the heads up. I'm sue we'll have a tip run at some point in the holiday as Mr. Hbbb is industriously "doing" the garden, so may have another bag of 15 in 15 to send with him!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

Lois, I always wondered how on earth those textile recycling things worked and worried that decent clothes would just get wasted, but that sounds fab. Will definitely seek out some of those as I do have a bag of 'I don't quite know what to do with this' stuff.
:rotfl: Bless your cotton socks, the one thing the cinema has taught me is that if you spin everything into a catchy show tune then everyone will think you meant it.

I have an amusing / embarassing anecdote about having the muppet theme tune as my ring tone and a very important school evening event where I was on the stage about to be presented to governors, parents, et al by the headteacher. I'm sure you can work out the rest ...!Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

I really need to learn to go and take a lie down more quickly instead of attempting to soldier on, I feel normal & full of beans now but couldn't get a thing done earlier. Managed to catch up on some diaries before conking out though, hurrah

It's good that you were able to listen to your body P*M, do you think this was a bit of your body's response to yesterday, the stress, anticipation and excitement of the meeting and the new prospects? It sometime happens when you put everything into a day lie that, the next day you're just drained by it, even if it didn't feel like it at the time!
Hope it all turns out to the good though. Do you now when you"ll hear for sure?Stash busting 2014 45 / 60 (balls of yarn)!

The knackeration of today has definitely resulted from yesterday's shenanigans, I seem to be one day off, one day on at the moment! Had a few other things going on in the background which has kept me on edge as well, but that's been sorted out this afternoon so hopefully I should be a bit more with it tomorrow.
Though saying all this, I'm certainly starting to read the signals from my body much more quickly these days, I've made significant progress over the past several months when compared to two decades of on again, off again chronic ill health! Crazy how blind we can be to what our bodies are telling us sometimes.a penny picker upper. Have been doing some general ponderation, so thought I'd do a mini update of Thinkings Concerning Certain Matters In Relation To MFWness.
Beautification: I've managed to dispense with my day and night face moisturisers and replace them with almond oil. This seems to work fine (even in the mornings, sinking in quickly), and means I can also use the oil for all sorts of other things (body lotion for instance) so I only need one product. :j I'll probably play about with essential oils (and other base oils) and make different versions for myself, but I'm rather chuffed with this as it feels more natural and is also so much cheaper that what I was buying before.
In addition to this I have eliminated using cleanser in the mornings. I've been convinced since I was about 10 years old (that seems so young! I guess because it is?!) that this is something you should do every day. But I've just sprayed on some toner, put on a little almond oil and it's been fine. In fact, my skin has looked a lot calmer since I've started doing it. What a result. More pennies in my pocket there, and also what a difference it makes for a) getting ready quickly in the mornings (was always so jealous at how quick Mr M got ready, hadn't really realised how much time it takes to be a card-playing female before I started living with him, and I thought to myself that actually, I could do with that time to help make my fortune & so forth) and b) travelling, it means less stuff to cart about (am always so shocked to see the 20 bottles of various lotions and potions my mum takes everywhere with her, I just don't want to do that, or feel like I need that in my life).
Also, in regards to this, it's really starting to bother me that females are sold so much nonsense about lotions/potions/make up. Sure, having some odd things are great and can be a lot of fun (I used to be a nail polish queen!), but not to the extent where you're actually losing out financially because you feel obliged to buy all this stuff just so you can participate in/feel accepted society. I know it's easy to say that people make their own choices, but there's such overwhelming pressure you have to wonder. When money's been really tight I was still making myself find ways to buy this stuff and it was ridiculous, I should have been buying decent food for myself, good shoes to keep my feet in good nick etc! I used to do the whole routine, I didn't spend masses, and not on super expensive stuff, but even the things I did buy was just a bit overboard.
I'm slowly eeking out portions of my make up routine (never thought I could go without foundation, but it's been a couple of years now and I love not having to bother with it). Blusher is gone now too.If I want pink cheeks I'll just have to go outside and do some flipping exercise.
Making Extra Pennies: Ok, plan of action is to get my extra deposit/rainy day fund total sorted out in May. I'd hoped to have all my accounts sorted out, but it's taken much longer for lots of various reasons (not all in my control, unfortunately). So will get that going, and in May I'll try and get my budget set up again and start moving regular pennies over there.
The other thing I want to do is get started on a BTL fund. Essentially this is part of my pension plan. I'd have to save something ridiculous like £600 a month to get a run of the mill pension going now (due to my old age, apparently). Ace. That's nigh on impossible. So who knows what the future holds, but I'm more interested in getting some BTLs, so I'll start moving some regular pennies into a fund for that. It may only start off as rather small amounts but if I feel like it's building up then that'll be a huge psychological boost and will feel like my hard work is helping to get my financial house in order (so to speak), and I really do need to set some money aside if I can.
The other possibility is that the BTL could happen sooner rather than later if some of my ideas (tucked firmly up my sleeves for now) come off. I'd need to chat to some people but laying some groundwork seems like a good plan of action for now. :T
NB. All of the above is subject to change. :rotfl:a penny picker upper. They are so amazing! I can't decide which one I want more. Part of me really, really wants to live in a hobbit house (I've had moments of feeling that I should just chuck it all in and become an eco freak in the woods somewhere) but now I see that sea shell house I realise I need to get a corporate job so I can afford to build it. :rotfl:
The stone house is nuts! And the wooden Russian one is stunning. I'd love a tiny house but I'd never be able to fit my knicker collection in it.
Oh.... random thought: I've just realised that this desire to live in a fairytale house was probably caused by my parents taking me to Storybook Glen once too often. If there was a house shaped like a shoe I'd be off right down to the estate agents. :rotfl:
ETA: I don't want all the children that goes with it though.a penny picker upper.
