Just make sure you've got some sort of extra 'protection' in place with Agnus Castus Steph, unless you want more babies that is! :rotfl: It's what some people take when trying to regulate their cycles to get pregnant! :D

Haha Lhead, Hubby had the snippety snip a long time ago, so I will have ALOT of explaining to do if I get pregnant :rotfl:

I ordered some from Amazon as the write ups were brilliant.
    Hope it arrives soon.

Well after finally getting control of the house and thinking it was lovely and tidy, it now looks like a bomb site again .

Dd decided she wanted her toy pony stables with fake grass down from the attic and now the whole landing is covered with it and don't get me started on the rest of the house. It really is a never ending job.

Can't wait for my Agnus Castus to arrive, I am feeling a little unbalanced today and that's because I am on the run up to my monthlies again (Yes sorry TMI for a Monday morning :o).

Quite a busy little week ahead. Hubby is taking apart and re-building a chimney for people he has worked for before and we know are good payers, so no need to worry about this weeks wages. Phew.

Dd has gymnastics tonight and our Tesco shop. Got to finish this weeks meal plan today.

There is something happening every day this week but all too boring to list out to you guys.

I am desperately trying to resist getting 3-4 orphaned lambs. Trouble is they will collectively cost about £100 .
Tricky one though as they would fill our freezer come October so money well spent really, but just money I shouldn't spend right now.....Decisions.

Oh well.....I had better get cleaning and sorting the house back together again.
Foggy here in Dorset today....Hope you have a painless Monday everyone xxx
  • Hi Steph...don't talk to me about housework it is never ending.

I think you should consider the animals. I know £100 is a lot of money but you would be able to have so much meat from them. Did you find any more bits for ebay...how did it go for you? The old saying speculate to accumulate comes to mind when it comes to the lambs. Maybe you will get some more spa work before the end of the month and be able to buy a few lambs. Keep going you are doing very well. :)

I agree on the purchase of the lambs, could you use your stashed cleaning cash or has that gone into the emergency fund?
I sometimes wonder why we bother cleaning, my house always looks dirty again the next day....

Steph, how long is lambing likely to go on for down there?, 160 miles north of you, my brother's sheep are not due to start until next week. In other words how long might you be able to leave it while you accumulate some dosh and still be likely to get any lambs. Is it likely that OH would chip in a bit of his personal spends for a couple of weeks to help if you do the same?

I hope that you can find a way, own reared meat in October certainly would be good:D

Well I caved and bought five lambs :o. Investment for future food really so not a totally naughty spend. All money that should be in savings but will only set us back by 1 week.

Going to spend some time down the polytunnel today sowing some early seeds and doing some more weeding.

Need to keep it all under control. I have such huge potential to produce ALOT of food down there and I was unfocused and quite frankly rubbish last year. I got involved in too many other time wasting things like school PTA etc. This year, apart from my part-time work, I have no other commitments so plan on getting lots of dinners off the garden like I did in 2013.

I do plan I getting three pigs later in the spring. Also some meat chicks. they are super cheap at £1 each but grow into massive chickens and then we will have 20 odd chickens for the freezer.

I am also trying to sort out some laying hens, but just cannot afford the crazy prices of £15 per bird . So I am trying it a cheaper way and buying some fertile egg to incubate. Obviously no guarantee of success, but if I get at least 3-4 hens and a cockerel then I can eventually produce more chicks.
On the fox front, he is still out there somewhere, although hubby is doing his best and going out stalking him every evening and has nearly got him twice, so only a matter of time.

Sorry its been a farming update today, not much to report on the money front, non coming in and non going out, except lamb purchase.

Hope you are all doing well. xxxx

  • Hi Steph, I loved reading this mornings little farming update! I would love chickens but im frightened to death of anything like that :rotfl:. Totally love the idea of trotting outside to pick up fresh eggs and also food. I have no fruit or veg growing this year, must get into gear with it xx
