Oh Steph what sad news, poor lad that he felt this was the only thing that he could do.

Lhead - positive thoughts for you and your family too.

Great news about the booked treatments, a nice little kick-off for the emergency pot. Hopefully now that Christmas and the January bills are behind people the Spa will start to get more bookings. I am desperate for a really deep tissue massage, but need to wait for "pay day" and then see if there will be anything left over:)

Oh no Steph :( How horrible :(

I think yesterday was a bad day all round - a close family member of mine was told they have cancer :( Hopefully as they've caught it really early it will be curable, but there's always that niggle in the back of your brain saying 'what if'....

Hope the week get's better for you.

Did you have any snow? 1/4 inch here and DD's school was closed for the morning. Honestly what is wrong with this country?!

    xx

    Hi Lhead,

So sorry to hear about your close family members cancer scare, hopfully like you say, it will be fine as they caught it early. No one likes to hear the C word EVER though. Big hugs.

So funny that the school closed, ours stays open as long as they can get enough teachers in and the school bus can get through.

Not had any snow yet here, so feeling grateful. I hate the hassle it causes and I also hate us taking our lives in our hands trying to drive on dangerous roads.

    Hi MM

I should hopefully earn nearly £150 this week, if I could make that every week i would be a very happy MSE'er :T

  • Evening.

Got an even busier day tomorrow now.

After my little cleaning job, I am off to where hubby has been working to see the owner. She wants a chat to me about doing 3+ hours cleaning in her two holiday homes every Friday morning and also some hours gardening. :j:j

So If I do 3 hours per week in this new place, added to my 2 hour job already. I will earn a definite £50 per week before treatments.

Don't think I could get anymore cleaning jobs after this one as it is quite tricky with my Spa work. I never know when they are going to book me in so I don't want to fill my days too much otherwise I will have to start saying no to treatments. very tricky.

Anyway, good news to be bringing in an extra minimum £30 per week :j

I am so very sorry to hear about the young man Steph. It leaves so much unanswered.

Also makes it so VERY clear that living a happier life is never something to be taken for granted.

Well done on the treatments, and your new job. As you say two jobs will be enough to give a backbone of regular cash topped up by treatments. Or grow the cleaning and gardening jobs and employ other people to do them. Steph's really lovely cleaning and gardening business, by women for women. Loads of people don't like employing men in their house and garden.
  • So sorry to hear to hear about the young lad steph...that will be very hard for your inlaws to deal with...it must feel just like losing their own child. Unfortunately this has also happened in my family, and you never get over it...it's impossible to reach the stage of acceptance that you do when someone dies of natural causes.
Great news about the potential extra hours...well done :j

  • Morning all

Thanks so much for all the messages. I didn't get in touch yesterday as FIL has all of her family round her so I doubt that I am needed. I think I will give them a call later on this afternoon, just to check how they are and if I can do anything. Its one of those situations where you can't really solve any problems, so I usually flounder as to what to do really.

Busy busy day today. Got my little cleaning job at 930am then off to see about the other cleaning job. Good idea Tootallulah about the cleaning business but no sure I could cope with too much cleaning. I have trouble enough keeping my own home clean :o.

My two treatments tonight haven't been cancelled yet so fingers crossed they still happen.

We have been invited out to a friends house for a meal on Saturday night, but it still means paying out for a babysitter. Having trouble finding one at the moment. I am getting so MSE that I don't even like spending £20 on a sitter now :D

My little cleaning job this morning is funny. I don't get a set few rooms to clean. When I arrive I sit down with the elderly lady and she reads out a list to me. She used to be a school teacher so think old habits die hard. She is so sweet, and often falls asleep while I am working, so I am trying to mop and polish quietly so I don't disturb her :).

The other cleaning job I am hoping it will be one where I am just asked to set the two holiday homes back to perfectly tidy ready for the next guests. That will be nice as I can put my headphones on and set to it and that makes the time go quicker.

I sometimes feel like our families lives are on repeat. My mum stayed home with me as a child and I remember going with her in the holidays to lots of different cleaning jobs. Never thought I would be doing the same 30 years on :o.

Its funny but all around me I see women just doing Whatever they can to bring in that extra bit of money to help their family.

Times are tough but if you look hard enough and leave your pride at the door, you can find bits of work.

Hope you are all doing well mid week. Speak later xxx

I was less thinking of you cleaning and more you managing cleaners! Treatments sound really good Steph.
