I'm a huge lurker on your thread but have I lurked long enough to say the £1000 is a really good idea, I have got my fund together finally this month and it really does make a huge difference to your "head state"

I am a massive worrier about money and the thought of things going wrong made me feel quite ill constantly so this money tucked safely away from DH's itchy fingers has made me relax no end as I know if the worst happens we have it sorted

    You definitely won't regret it.

    Hi Archer,

Thanks for taking the time to post, I really appreciate it.

Getting my emergency fund together and also getting the mortgage back onto direct debit have been two big things playing on my mind, but just never quite admitted that I needed to slow down the debt repayment to sort them out.

Now I have halved my debt, I think those two things have become more of a priority and I need to re focus.

Thanks for your encourgement Archer. Hopefully I can getting them done quickly and get back on track.

Thanks clearmydebts. This forum is quite amazing, I very much doubt I would have achieved half of this without you all. This site gives me hope, and without hope we have nothing xxxx
  • Afternoon all,

Been a busy day being mum today.

I invited a school parent and her daughter over for coffee this morning as her Dd has been picking on my son all week and my Ds has also been retaliating with mean words. So i text her mum (sort of a friend of mine) and she agreed that they were both being silly, so they came round and we all had a chat and it seems to be sorted.

Ds and this girl used to be boyfriend and girlfriend!! Yes i know ridiculous as they are only 10, and now they are not and Ds is going out with another girl, I think her targeting my son was out of jealously. Seems to be all sorted now and they were laughing and joking in the lounge this morning ...phew...

Then Ds got invited for a sleep over at his friends house and so did Dd, so after alot of mum taxi'ing I am finally sat comfy in front of the fire with dinner in the oven.

I have been booked in for 2.1/2 treatments next week which add up to £87.50 + £20 cleaning job = £107.50. Fingers crossed the treatments don't get cancelled.

I will transfer that money into my savings account to finally start the pot towards EVERYTHING :rotfl:

Hope everyone is well, i'm off to check dinner, then will check in to some diaries. xxxx
  • Well.....This is weird. I am home alone

I keep thinking I should be careful of the volume on the telly and then I remember there are no children in the bedrooms :o.

Hubby got invited out to the pub as there is a Pub Olympics event on tonight with darts, pool, skittles etc run as a big competition. All really hubbys cup of tea but soooooo not mine. So I opted to stay home. This also saves money and I have to be sober to possibly collect any failed sleepover attempts.

Been a little bit naughty today but it was a good opportunity. when I dropped Ds off at my Best friends house, she mentioned going away camping in April In Devon. We have provisionally booked in. It will cost £77 for four nights and don't have to pay until March. We will then eat tinned stuff we can eat in the tent.
A few camping trips is all we have to look forward to this year so I threw caution to the wind.

    Don't shout at me :o;);)

I am totally addicted to The Vampire Diaries atm, but only have about 3 episodes of Series 5 left to watch and then i have to wait for Series 6 to start on ITV2. Don't want it to end :)

    xxxxx
  • :jI think you are absolutely right to book the camping trip! it's funny because I also booked ours today for Easter and cannot wait...it's lovely just to chill out and do nothing...and cheap as chips :j

  • Camping trip = great plan

    Emergency fund = great idea.

I know what you mean about getting shot of the debt.

I just sat and added up my savings (all allocated to various stuff so in no way fun money or an emergency fund. It would sort of pay off the debt. But then I would be REALLY skint and up a creek if anything went wrong with the animals or my car.

so yes, it is the long slow slog. BUT IT WILL BE DONE.

    Big hugs XXXXX
    Nevertheless she persisted.

    Morning Steph,

Poor DS does seem to be getting some stick at the minute, I hope thats the end of it.

Yay to your treatments booked in for next week and double yay to camping. I don't think thats a bad price and its always cheap when you get there.

    Happy Sunday x

    Morning all,

Eugh spent the night in Dd's bed, cause hubby came home, woke me up and then proceeded to snore all night . At least with the children at sleepovers there was a spare room for me to move to.

So glad you don't think I made a bad decision about the camping, I know it goes against everything I am trying to do this year, but I felt life still has to go on and we need a little bit of frugal fun mixed in with all the scrimping. I thought £77 for four nights was pretty good, just got to hope for good weather now

Not much on today, both children are being dropped back at some point, just got to figure out what to feed everyone today, after only doing a £30 food shop this week, the cupboards are pretty bare.

Dd is on a school trip till late tomorrow so won't be going into town for Gymnastics. So I think I will pop into Lidl and get my shop done during the day.

Not much else to report, Ynab all reconciled against bank account. All bills budgeted for next week. Just got to hope hubby keeps the jobs coming in. He has a selection of small jobs to be getting on with so fingers crossed.

    xxxx

Boo to the snoring, an elbow in the ribs or a sharp command to "turn over" used to do the trick, but always worse after a drink or if someone is very overweight:(

The camping sounds great, one has to have a small amount of planned treats in order to keep up the momentum and enthusiasm, I think that the key word is planned and not a knee jerk quick decision that we end up regretting.

Keep on going Steph, there is no way that you are not going to become DF, it will be hard, but the worst couple of years are behind you now. Start a new grid for your emergency fund perhaps?

    Morning MM,

I tried all the nudging and kicking :D to get him to stop snoring, lieing on his side usually stops it, but not after a drink  MEN!!

The camping trip was a slight impulse as I definitely wasn't expecting to book anything yesterday, but I did plan on getting "Terry the tent" out as much as possible to some cheap campsites/fields this year so this just got one booked soon than expected :T

What a good idea about starting a new 100 Grid for my savings :D
I love colouring in those grids and they make me see real visable progress so maybe that would really help me.

Thank you MM you are a star :A
