Aw hope your son is feeling better soon :)

Good luck with your christmas cake. I always used to make one but have given up in recent years as it was always a huge cake and I would end up eating most of it myself as OH is not a huge fan of fruit cake. Was very yummy but not so good for my figure :(

    Hi MissT

I must admit to it being mostly me that loves Christmas Cake. hubby will have the odd slice but he doesn't like marzipan to only has some when desperate for abit of cake. Its only a 9" cake so hopefully not going to gain me too many inches on the waistline :o.

  • Looove Christmas cake Steph :)
  • Evening all

well cake is out of the oven, cooled and been fed with some Brandy.

I have put marzipan and Royal icing on my next shopping list so will get it finished then.

Two cheque's for hubby's wages arrived in the post today totaling £395. So that now means I will do a trip into BIG town tomorrow to bank them. Have to wait in first for the Dishwasher engineer to come and re-fit it.
Apparently there was a split hose, which accounts for the leaking water and electric tripping out :o. Haven't had the bill yet, Fingers Crossed its under £100 otherwise I am going to be annoyed.

I joined a challenge this afternoon on MSE. It is to Save £1000 Emergency Fund as soon as possible. I feel like abit of a Dave Ramsey fraud, I love him but I have never managed to quite get to the 1k Emergency fund, which is Baby Step 1. Ooooops.

I am going to pay all my regular payments to debts but any extra will go into that fund.

Once I get to 1k, I MAY use that to catch up with my mortgage and start again. We will see when I finally get there.

I have been so busy I feel like I have taken my eye off the ball a little and I am letting myself do extra little purchases, which I really shoudn't be doing. Must keep an eye on my impulse spending

Hope your son if feeling better soon Steph xx

We don't have christmas cake. My grandparents and my sister were the only ones who liked it growing up, OH isn't a fan either so I don't bother with it lol.

Finally got the Laptop fixed :j:j :T:T Had to do a complete reset but managed to back it up first....all because of a driver upgrade! Never mind :)

That reminds me, I need to download YNAB again! EEEK

  • Morning all,

Had abit of a spendy morning :o. Had to go into BIG town to bank the cheques, but also used that opportunity to get a few things we needed.

Ds needed a Base Layer top for when he plays football outside during the winter. (£8.99)
Ds is also playing football in a hall on Wednesday nights so needed Indoor football trainers because all he has is a fashion pair. (£16.99)
Both Ds & Dd both needed a pair of swim Goggles each for their swim lessons tonight. (£6.99 each)

Also Ds's Gecko and snake needed some food so called in at PetsAtHome for those which added upto £17 . That will last a good few months but I must remember to add some money into the Pets savings account to cover the next time I have to buy that.

Also had to get 2 bags of pellets for the geese, ducks & chickens. £16. That was budgeted for though.

    Crickey..... Expensive morning :(.

Hubbys end of week wage has come in so paid the mortgage. Slowly getting it nearer and nearer the date it should be paid which is the 1st of every month. If I can get it back to the 1st regularly then I will take the plunge and call up the mortgage company to get it back on Direct Debit.
So scary having a Direct Debit on £792 when you are self employed .
I was wondering if these mortgage companies ever do Bi-weekly payment set ups? I guess all I need to do is maybe split my mortgage payment in half so I set half aside the week before and that will have the same effect. I will have a think about that.

Ds is back to school today and they have a WW1 remembrance afternoon starting at 2pm, so will go to that. Abit concerned that I only have £1.20 in my purse and wondering if I will need more in case they are selling stuff they have made. Unless maybe its a good idea to just go with £1.20 and then I won't feel blackmailed into spending loads....Hmmmmm

  • Morning Diary,

Slow start this morning, had a naughty lie in until 930 :o.

My plans for the day are to clear and tidy the work desk area, it is still half full of my craft items that I haven't committed to packing away :(. This I might put it in the base of my wardrobe so I can get to it fairly easily if I decide to make anything.

At the moment the desk looks like a disaster zone so a lot of work needed.

I also have two buckets of green tomatoes that need converting into a chutney of some sorts. Going to maybe try Green Tomato Chilli chutney. Not sure how it will work out, but need to do something with them.

I got paid £100 from the Spa yesterday so I transferred it into my Emergency fund.

Feel good to start getting money back into that poor empty account.

Going to brave a fireworks display tonight if the rain holds off.

Hope you all have a good day planned xx

    Hi Dawn

Yes, you just reminded me to get my facebook advert for them posted. Thinking of maybe putting a sign at the bottom of the lane as well nearer the ned of November and also some fliers to post around.

They were a good little money spinner last year, need to start drying slices of fruit and scouring hedges for cones ;)
