  • Hi Steph, just catching up with you! Life sounds a bit manic (same as here!) I have only just cajoled my DW back to life and things are soooooo much easier again now I have it! With kids, DH & myself it's hard to keep on top of it, especially in the holidays! Hope you've all enjoyed the half term, my two younger ones have 2 extra days off but DS1 is upstairs right now looking for his uniform & making sure he's done his homework for tomorrow :) xx

  • Morning all

thanks for the tip off wantabetterlife, I looked on the Argos website and there are a couple that are in the early £200's mark. Nice to know, as I am currently waiting for the update from the engineer. If the price for repair is too high then I will just save up for one of those cheapy Argos ones. I did'nt think you could get an integrated one for under £400 so it was a nice surprise.

Kids all packed off to school this morning, I cam home and hosed down and scrubbed the polytunnel. Abit annoying as I thought I was reaching right to the top but when I looked inside I saw that I could'nt reach a 6ft wide panel along the ridge .
Think I am going to have to get hubbys help to get the top cleaned.

Got a huge list of jobs i want to get done in the veg plot and then the garden. I really want to get it all sorted and cleaned up ready for the winter shut down.

I did'nt do this last year and then felt like I was playing a huge catch up game all year.

Going to put muck on all the beds and then cover with old carpet and sheeting so that the soil is all lovely and ready come next spring.

Thankfully the veg plot isn't near to the house so the ugly carpet etc can't be seen.

Sent out a load of invoices for the work that hubby did last week. We have a total of £13 in the bank atm , so I am REALLY hoping people pay quickly.

I have the Birthday and Christmas savings I could temporarily transfer over, but I don't like to unless I really HAVE to, as I am worried i won't be able to transfer it back.

Hubby has started a 4-5 week job as from today with super brilliant payers so all should be calm for a while.

Still do not have anything for January onwards which is nerve wracking. I will keep answering the phone hoping for a quote for a new job to come along. Eeeeek.

Ok coffee break over. Off to work in the garden.

  • Hi Puzzcat.

No its raining here now too :(. I've been digging in the polytunnel, but its hard going. I've only dug about 10ft but I feel exhausted.

I've just been in for another coffee break, and now i'm contemplating putting my overalls on and a raincoat to be able to barrow some muck down to the tunnel. i hate working in the rain, but i have vowed to get these outdoor jobs done before the really cold weather comes.

Today looks like the worst day weather wise, so i'm hoping to get alot done. I have to strike while i'm in the mood otherwise it will never get done ;).

Can't decide wether to risk getting the quad and trailer going. I can't remember how to start it and I am rubbish at reversing.
Could be a disaster in the making but alot easier than wheelbarrowing muck long distances. Hmmmmm.

Finally having a catch up! We had a hectic half term visiting family in Sussex and getting colds at the same time :(. J is back to school tomorrow though so we need to get back into routine.

I hope you got lots of work done, it was raining on and off all day in Poole today, I was lucky to get to the post office in a dry spell lol.

Looks like the next week is going to be mild so you should be able to get some outside work done. Bonfire night is going to be 2 degrees in the countryside though so wrap up warm!

    Morning all

Haha Yes Puzzcat I am still alive. I decided against it in the end (chickened out :o), so I just did a lot of wheel barrowing :(.

    Hi lhead,
Its good to get back in the familiar routine after a week off. Hope the colds are going away. Not sure when we are doing fireworks as Ds has football training on November 5th. There is a big display on this Saturday, but its quite expensive and am also not sure if the children are that bothered. Will wait and see.

My new Filofax was delivered yesterday :T.
It was abit of a luxury at £30 , but I had gotten so disorganised this year, forgetting birthdays, appointments, losing my address book etc etc. I really wanted everything to be in one place.
Birthdays listed on a years view calendar so I didn't have to transfer it into a new diary every year.

It is AMAZING!!!! I am such a geek to get excited over it.

I have a week over 2 pages diary
Years view pull out for birthdays
    Contacts sheets with everyone's address's
A section for my veg plot / garden plans
    Shopping list section

In between each two page week diary I have added a small piece of paper for me to write my TO DO list of things I want to achieve that particular week/

If this doesn't get me organised then nothing will. :o

A couple of hubby's small jobs from last week have been paid so the bills are now covered...Phew...

I feel abit bad this morning - Ds had some homework to get done over the half term. It was based on WW1, so when we went to London, we built his project around our visit to the Poppies at the Tower of London.
Joes (know-it-all) mate who we give a lift to every morning, informed us that the project was supposed to be about The Trenches . The deadline is tomorrow and I feel we have kind of missed the brief. I feel abit bad because I didn't read the homework sheet thoroughly enough and I hope Ds doesn't feel silly with a project different to everyone elses?.
Aaaargh I do hate homework. Feel slightly tempted to try to knock something child-like up today for him, but then fear that would undermine the work he has already done.
Guess I will just leave it and hope he doesn't be made to feel that he has done it all wrong :(.

Planning on getting more work done outside today. Going to take some step ladders down to finish the top of the poly-tunnel and then do some more digging and muck moving.
Might treat myself with a trip to a garden centre later today for garlic, sweet peas, broad beans and some bulbs for my pots.

Hope you are all well. xxx

Well the poppies are about the trenches, they were the only flowers that bloomed on the mud ravaged sites. If you get him to top and tail with an explanation of how the poppies were the sYmbol of trench warfare- job done. Throw in the powerful lines from"In Flanders Fields a the poppies grow" I don't think he could do better.
