Happy Monday!
OH was out of the house at 4am to go too Belfast, text me along the way to say "snooow!" so I hope it's headed this wayLast time we moved we were hit with that terrible snow 3 years ago the following week so maybe we have magical Frozen powers.
Had a lovely weekend, went to see Birdie and Bump on Saturday and spent yesterday fetching boxes and newspapers ready for packing things up this evening. Two more car loads of "stuff" landed at the house yesterday. Watched a couple movies (well, I slept through one!) and just had a good old fashioned lazy day. OH was in bed by 8pm so I got too potter about, clean up and get things ready for this morning.
Only 4 days left at work until the move! Spending all week at the house, apart from Thursday as the carpets go down and Ryder isn't exactly in love with people he doesn't know coming into "his" house, but we can spend Thursday afternoon packing the last things up ready to go!
Went to the shops this morning to put what I hope is the last money on the gas card for this place. Grabbed some little packets (2 biscuit ones) of Fox's Melts because they're my Sister's favourite but I can't find a big packet of them to save my life! Marked at 25p but scanned at 10p so I grabbed myself a cheeky packet to have for my morning snack
Cutting life to the penny this week. Just waiting until the first payday of February and everything will be a lot smoother!0 -
Well, today is the big day!! So glad I'm at work and don't have to do anything until this afternoon. I just always feel like I'm in peoples way
Had a big change of plans as our carpet fitters let us down last minute, so I had Wednesday and Thursday off work. Was a blessing really as it meant we got everything painted and cleaned over those two days ready for the carpets to be fitted this afternoon. We're pushing to be in there tonight, as in my head I'm thinking the more nights Ryder is there the better for when I come back to work on Tuesday. So we'll still be moving things tomorrow, but at least we're there!
Had a really busy couple days so money making has fallen to the wayside, however the internet gets connected on Monday so I'll be back on the wagon on Monday night/Tuesday. I've been checking into apps to keep things ticking over when I can but nothing insanely good to report.
I did, however, send off our ink cartridges so that should be a little £5 being paid into my account soonAlso had £41 tracked on Quidco this week so it's getting there!
Ordered food to be delivered to the new house. Got £165 worth of food for £100 plus £9 cashback so I'm feeling pre-tay savvy about it allPlus it's enough meat and dairy to keep us through February, and lots of things for the pantry too. So we'll just need to pop and get the odd thing as and when we need it, and with the new house being 2 minute walk from Asda I can just get what I need without buying extras to mentally make the trip worth it.
Paid my car tax for 6 months this morning too, along with going to buy smellies to leave at our house when we move out I'm just looking forward to this move being over so I can settle back into my "I ain't buying nowt!" ways0 -
Hope the move goes well!
Don't worry about the money stuff this week- house moves are a good excuse to let things slip briefly - and to treat yourself because you're working so hard!Overcome the notion that you must be ordinary. It robs you of the chance to be extraordinary!Goal Weight 140lb Starting Weight: 160lb Current Weight 145lb0 -
:j We did it!! :j
The move went well, still a bit of flooring that needs to be fitted on Thursday and we'll be tiling and painting for another week or so (just touch ups!) but the most important part is we're in and things are finding homesVery glad we only have a few boxes left to unpack, and I hope I can tackle them this afternoon then we'll be done!
Have to say I absolutely love the new house, and wouldn't switch back to the old place for the world. It's much quieter (no longer on a bus route), right by everywhere I need to be (work, shops etc) plus I can walk Ryder in the park at night which is well lit and it's added 20 minutes to Ryder's normal daily walk. Everyone's a winner. OH is just happy with the addition of a shower!
Also did some maths over my time off and I've cleared £414.89 off the debt last month and I feel like we're finally getting places  Plan is to totally clear the credit card asap this month and go into a branch to cancel it once and for all. No temptation! It's just so easy to not say no to going out when you think "I'll just pay it on the credit card and put X amount to one side each week next month.." and then I obviously never do that. HENCE WHY I'M IN DEBT
Have decided to set myself a £20 a week challenge. This is for everything, top up shops, if we go out for the day, and petrol. Then I can let the rest of my wages build up in my current account so I can put it to good use at the end of the month. So I have to be thrifty and frugal with my choices!
No massive plans for today. Have to go to the old house to give it a good clean, new people are in on Friday! Then I hope I can get tea on the bubble, something as simple as I can muster have a recipe I want to try for homemade "winter warmer" meatball pasta bake. Have the mince for the meatballs, and I can cheat with a packet mix for seasoning so I don't have to faff with making it up myselfNot been stopping until about 8pm each night when I take Ryder for his night walkies so would just be nice to have a sofa evening!

Glad you're in and loving it, Ryder will love the longer walked. Clearing the CC then getting rid of the card sounds like a good idea too. Well done Cinny, and we're only February!:heartsmil Stay-at-home-mummy of two, pinching the pennies but loving it! :heartsmil

Current story of my lifeEveryone is commenting on how calmer he seems here too, which I'm obviously super happy about. I just love that he has his own little space (with carpet which he was happily rubbing his face on!) so he doesn't have to be fully crated and has about 3x more space to plod about in.
But thank you everyone! I am seriously happy there and just feel a lot better, kind of like it was a fresh start for us as while there's been a lot of good in the past 3 years we also had a run of bad luck in the old house too. Kind of hoping things are on the up now!
Got some free tickets to go and see The Book Thief on Monday with my Mum (OH was not interested, not one bit!) so that's a free evening outPlus it's a cinema in a shopping centre so I can pop to £1land for a cheap snack to take in
OH gets paid today so I'll be able to pay some things off. It's a bit cheeky but we cut some of the bills that OH pays for which saves him £60 a month, so he sends me £30 of that so we're "equal". So I can pay that off something!
No plans this afternoon, so I'm going to start on the last odd jobs in the house. A couple patches to paint and gloss in the kitchen. I have a tube of "magic" (or caulk, as the muggles call it) so I can go around door frames, sockets etc just to tidy it up. Want to dye my hair too, as we finally live in a house with hot water and that's a beautiful thing!0 -
Are all the debts yours not joint? If we cut a bill the whole saving goes off the debt, that extra £30 a month would make a difference xDebt January 1st 2018 £96,999.81Met NIM 23/06/2008
Debt September 20th 2022 £2991.68- 96.92% paid off0 -

To cut a long finance story short, our debts aren't joint. We split everything 50/50 but agreed that the volvo debt was too much for me to take on half of on my wage, so I'm focusing on the smaller debts
Had two letters through the post from our water company yesterday. So naturally my first thought was explicit, but the first was an account of cutting the water off at our old place which left us £43 in credit, and putting that credit against the water rates at the new place up until April 1st which still left us just over £5 in credit :j Phew!
Such a weird night last night. OH broke down on the motorway, so what was meant to be a 3 and a half hour journey home took 10 hours. He put what he thought was diesel in his car, but wound up with petrol. The pump and receipt say diesel so I have no idea what happened, but according to the recovery guy he'd picked 3 people up already with the same problem and there were a bunch of other people pulled up on the same stretch of motorway. I'm just extremely glad we decided to get him roadside cover when he started travelling more. Couldn't sleep as I was worried about the weather so I was up until 1:30am waiting for him. Oddly woke up feeling more awake than I have in a long time!
Not much else to report for today! Hoping the rest of the flooring will get fitted, but either way our washing machine is getting dropped by and I'm so excitedOur laundry basket is over flowing so as soon as it's plumbed in it's going to be washing o'clock for this little lady. Stoked because we also have a new laundry detergent and I have to get my kicks where I can.
