"Glad to say I'm not as cold hearted as you - what an existence that must be !"

    Really?

This is the cold hearted one that comes on a forum to express concern?
I'm assuming they work in HR and this is part of their job.

I doubt it is just a spreadsheet error, likely that the manager is a plank or the person is hard to work with.

Nice copy paste job but you have taken my reply out of context as this was not a reply to the OP. I suggest you check out who and what I was responding to.

I agree, its not a nice thing to do but the OP still had to do her job regardless of her thoughts on it.

You are indeed correct I was told to dismiss them as their own manager
    was on holiday.

It wasn't her job, though, was it? She was ordered to do it because someone else was off. I'd certainly be questioning such orders. Odd choice of word - order.
  • This is a wind up surely. So this silly organisation might come crashing to the ground due to a simply typo and has no way to double check for these kind of mistakes. And on the other hand you have person B who seems to have done everything wrong except take a dump on the desk of the boss and they are finally getting the boot.

Wait.......what do you mean you hope the agency are angry with me? Why would they be angry with me? I don't work for them.

So what would you have done if you were put in the same position?!?!

I think you need to take a step back, how do you think the error was spotted!!!!!!!!!!

I would have expected the manager of the person who was on holiday to take any necessary action. Are you that person?

I remember I got sacked at Christmas one year, I didn't have a clue it was coming, it was the Friday we got our Xmas holidays, everyone was excited about getting off work for 2 weeks and going to the Christmas party after we finished work, about 10 mins before quitting time I got called to the office and told due to lack of orders in the New Year my services was no longer required but I was still welcome to attend the Xmas party, needless to say I was no longer in the mood.

They phoned me again the end of January looking me back but out of twistedness I didn't go back to them.
