Hi, yeah I'm having the same problem. I came here to see if it was just me.

I'm trying to look at tickets from Newcastle to London Kings Cross but I'm also getting the error message saying it doesn't recognise the station.

The button at the bottom of the form to report a problem doesn't work either - a bit ironic!!

    Kevin.

I just used TrainSplit instead and got the info on which tickets were which and ordered them that way through work :)
  • This app is fantastic. A £235 train ticket to London for a business trip has been reduced to £126!!!! There needs to be a link so I can easily share this tool with my Facebook/Twitter friends!!!!

    Bizarre

I am booking a ticket for someone visiting UK heading up to the Highlands, Tickety Split does not work for me, 12/12/15 after 3PM London - Dundee

    £136.30 super off-peak single:
    Depart 15:00 £136.30

    " " 15.30 £136.30

    " " 15.30 £34.00* (Advance Single)

    " " 16.00 £136.30

*when you split tickety £34 you get £136.30 result ?? All the other £136.30 fares cant be split and remain £136.30

But get this: The £34 (split) ticket does exist on trainline website London Euston to Glasgow Central & Glasgow Queen St to Dundee), so I notice it is Virgin Trains (West Coast I presume) so off I toddle to Virgins website where I am offered at 15.43 Euston to Glasgow at £20, ~I check trainline, Virgin and Scotrail for the next connecting train to Dundee and all give a £6.90 result, trainline shows the same £20 fare IF you enter Lon - Gla @ 15.30, but enter Lon - Dundee its £34.00 for the same two trains.

So out of nowhere Virgin has a train not on trainline site, the 15.43 Euston to Glasgow Central ? Perhaps it really departs from London Kings Cross on the Hogwarts line 13 minutes earlier to get to Euston and its just a staff change stop so they can get back to Hogwarts 13 minutes later with 4 mins left to board the 4 o clock Hogwarts Express home :ROTFL:

    So ticketysplit wants £136.30
    trainline wants £34
Virgin want £26.90 (Virgin & Scotrail) BOOKED

Virgin Ghost train, the cheapest way to travel

Anyway off to find the best Dundee-Aviemore for the following Monday morning, anyone know a cheap hotel ?

EDIT: Found the Virgin timetable in PDF. The 15.43 is Euston via Coventry, I know it is not direct to Stafford but surely the point of the tool is to find the cheapest fare considered direct or not ? Direct is not even a option to select.

Anyway if you search London - Coventry/Birmingham the 15.43 Glasgow train appears on trainline, just not if you search for Glasgow ?

Very strange trainline does not pick up a timetabled train, and that timetable ironically ends on 12/12! haha you couldn't make it up...
SO... now England its the Scots turn to say dont leave the UK, stay in Europe with us in the UK, dont let the tories fool you like they did us with empty lies... You will be leaving the UK aswell as Europe ;)

used for the first time today.

Did the job and split the journey saving money:

    KGX to Grantham
    Grantham to Leeds
COuld also see the return would split at the same place and all the times etc.
However, as I was unable to easily book tickets for both travellers and kept seeing that tickets were limited I was worried that I would end up without the required tickets for two.

So as much as I wanted to support MSE I went to the the trainline site and booked all the tickets at the same time for peace of mind
    :(

Is the MSE/thetrainline cooperative(!) working on a way to get round this?

Why did you use Thetrainline? Not only did the ticket cost more, but you also would have had to pay Thetrainline's fees.

Unlikely, as MSE have openly stated in their Cheap Train Tickets article:
The TicketySplit tool costs us a packet to run (we pay each time you search), but we get commission from TheTrainline's ticket sales to help fund it. Of course, it has booking fees, which some others don't - that's why we provide you with the information so you can go elsewhere if you choose.

If you do go through to TheTrainline, that helps ensure we're able to continue to run this tool, as it provides an incentive for it to continue to work with us, and we get a little back to help pay for this tool's running costs.

Just managed to save 20% on Glasgow to Inverness splitting the ticket myself at Perth. Trainline.com wanted £40.60 for an anytime day single and tickety split didn't show anything cheaper.

I split it Glasgow to Perth (£16) and then Perth to Inverness (£16), although the ticket from Perth is for that specified train. I'm guessing this is why tickety split was the same as trainline.com and didn't have one for £32.

Used Ticketysplit for a journey Liverpool to Harrogate. It said that no saving was possible, so price of £33.40 + booking fee. I have just booked it using the same trains for £17.50 total and no booking fee (Liverpool to Leeds, change for Harrogate - 2 tickets). Someone is having a laugh
CORRECTION - the Leeds to Harrogate leg was a return ticket which when you add the final bit back to Liverpool, it came to £30.80 total
