So Angry with Police

However I didn't run to the police, I just took avoiding action and carried on. Had I been raped, burgled, attacked, then I would have gone to the police. These incidents you describe seem like handbags at dawn. Tell your husband to get over it, there was no racism here, just an idiot in a van.
He didn't just see bad driving, he was nearly knocked off his bike, OK these things happen. The van driver then assaulted him, you know like someone attacking him? The police couldn't go anywhere with it as they didn't have evidence, fair enough. He now has a witness to the harassment and the police should deal with it, it is the van driver who is keeping this going.Sell £1500

I get annoyed by bad driving almost every day. It also includes some cyclists and motorbike riders who think they own the road. Sometimes, one of them do something stupid that potentially puts me at risk. I either curse or hunk, and then I move on. Most people do.
Why you would think this incident is any different to the 100s of thousands that happen every day every where in this country is beyond me. What do you want the police to do when all they got is two totally different account and a witness who either didn't see what happened, or is not interested in getting involved. Are you infering that the police should believe your husband and assumed the other guy is lying just because your husband is foreign?
Your husband was angry, so are you. Fine, move on. Harassement because the guy happened to be there and exchange some words with your husband? That's not harassement especially when your husband can just turn his back and choose to see nothing if he wanted to.
How are they expected to move on when the van driver is still harassing the OPs husband?Sell £1500

How are they expected to move on when the van driver is still harassing the OPs husband?
Lets not forget that the OPs Husband was the FIRST one to shout abuse after the incident.
Perhaps the van driver should have called the police over the OPs Husband behaviour towards him.
If he had not shouted at the driver in the first place none of this would have happened.

The OP didn't say he shouted abuse, he just shouted. Not the same as assault and not the same as keeping it going for weeks.

Your correct, the OP didn't say he shouted abuse.
The op also said "and secondly my husband has no fear in breaking this mans neck but as he is not English I have always told him never to hit anyone and the Police will deal with it.."
Hardly sounds like a timid person does it?
Seems the OP would have been ok with Hubby hitting the driver if he was English but as he is not she suggested he acts differently.
That's racist0 -

Thank God someone mentioned that, maybe your hubby was in the wrong, it doesn't deserve the pushing and harassment but l would still ignore the idiot when he comes back - or smile and wave to him.
Maybe the policewoman always talks down to people, maybe the taxi driver didn't see anything - l find it ridiculous you instantly claim all the people concerned are racist.

Im spitting feathers today... This story goes back about 6 weeks when my husband who has cycled to work for the last 6 years was turning right at traffic lights when an imbecile pulled up behind him.. When the lights turned green he practically knocked my husband off his bike.. When my husband got around the corner he shouted at the van.. The van then stopped and the man started pushing my husband to the point of nearly knocking him over.. An argument ensued but the man got in his van and drove off.. My husband never touched him he was No1 nearly knocked off his bike (he wasn't doing anything wrong) and 2 assaulted...
My husband called the Police and was asked to attend that evening (had my husband decided to make this entire story up there would certainly be no need to call the Police and secondly my husband has no fear in breaking this mans neck but as he is not English I have always told him never to hit anyone and the Police will deal with it.. There was also a taxi parked opposite that witnessed everything.. My husband photographed the van driving off and the taxi..
He went up to the Police station.. Gave his report and the Police were more worried about stating that if my husband lied he could end up in Prison bla bla bla.. Never heard such a load of rubbish.. The policewoman said she would call in the man and contact the taxi driver but it might be difficult to find him (oh yes because the number plate isn't enough !!).
The following day the same man came behind my husband again on his bike (they must start work at the same time) and again verbally abused him... We notified the police again of this..
3 weeks later the Police phoned to confirm nothing was being done as there was no witnesses and the stories were not the same... Asked about the taxi driver they apparently spoke to him and he said he didn't see the argument (well done for being an upstanding member of the public).... She then went on to say to stay away from this man and she had told him the same thing.. As you can imagine my husband was fuming and so was I but I did calm him down eventually.. Had this have been a woman would it have had the same outcome .... Unlikely... and my husband not being English.... yep another reason to be spoken to in a patronising manner and I had no qualms in telling the policewoman so.
Roll on today my husband was unloading a van outside of his work with a colleague when said waste of space drove past him AGAIN shouting abuse from the window.. Making pathetic hand and mouth signs (the useless waste of life didn't stop though like the big man he is ) .. My husband's colleague turned to him and said he couldn't believe what an absolute idiot and seeing as this is the 2nd time after the original incident amounts to harassment !!! I have contacted the police myself today and asked for the Policewoman to contact me again.. How can I proceed with this.. My problem is if it isn't sorted out in the proper channels my husband will deal with it.. Its disgusting that people who are trying to go about their day without doing anything to anyone have to deal with this !!!! What can I do... I will definitely make a formal complaint about this if not dealt with now.. You hear so many stories that people contacted the Police regarding issues and nothing was done and then the outcome was terrible..
ARGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!!
Get his colleague to make a statement and go to the police station. Ask to speak to the duty inspector, should get the ball rolling.
Not sure why ppl saying this isn't a police matter. Dangerous driving, assault and public order offences are police matters.0 -
The husband must have shouted quite a bit at the van driver for him to stop and get out of his van. They usually just drive off, completely ignorant to the fact they have nearly injured someone.
Two sides to the story. Without the other side, all this is pointless.0 -
Once again calm down ... my mate's wife was knocked off her bike on her way to work and broke her neck ... she spent nearly a year in a hospital bed - they had 3 young children at the time. So think how worse it could have been, go out for a glass of wine as a couple and celebrate still being able to do so, life is too short.0

I am confused how the bloke on the bike could be identified by somebody driving past as the bloke doing a day's work ..... sounds like there was some history there for the van driver to have recognised him at a subsequent time/place.0
