How are they expected to move on when the van driver is still harassing the OPs husband?
well for one, it is not very clear how the guy happened to be near OP's husband again. If he followed OP, fair enough, but I read that he just happened to be there and said a few words, that's hardly harassement and all he needed to do was ignore it.

Saying all that, I am starting to wonder whether the OP's husband was the one in the wrong anyway, which would explain the different story and witness not wanting to get involved.

Once again calm down ... my mate's wife was knocked off her bike on her way to work and broke her neck ... she spent nearly a year in a hospital bed - they had 3 young children at the time. So think how worse it could have been, go out for a glass of wine as a couple and celebrate still being able to do so, life is too short.

There's no need to turn it into a pi55ing competition. Sure, worse things have happened. That doesn't mean the OP is not justified in being angry.

    not usually ..

But some people do seem to find it irresistible to compete in their tales of woe..

I would've had some level of sympathy had she not instantly pulled the race card. I find this kind of attitude totally disgraceful. It is attitudes like this that continue to drive a wedge amongst our multi-cultural country.

The police didn't investigate further because there was a fundamental lack of ANY evidence and it sounds very tit for tat, childish even, not because he is not English born or bred.

I'm not seeing that post as competitive, more a plea for a bit of perspective, which is not such a bad suggestion.

Perhaps if more people reported dangerous drivers to the police less cyclists would be knocked off their bikes and seriously injured. If this van driver was in the wrong he might kill somebody next time, seems very aggressive to get out your vehicle and start pushing people about!

He didn't just see bad driving, he was nearly knocked off his bike, OK these things happen. The van driver then assaulted him, you know like someone attacking him? The police couldn't go anywhere with it as they didn't have evidence, fair enough. He now has a witness to the harassment and the police should deal with it, it is the van driver who is keeping this going.

do the police know he has a witness who is willing to be contacted regarding the 2nd incident?

its not racism, and both OP and her husband need to calm down and realise that.

The OP didn't say he shouted abuse, he just shouted. Not the same as assault and not the same as keeping it going for weeks.

I only have one side of the story, you seem to have much more.

in fact, we only have one side of the story already second-hand - the OP wasn't there during any of this.
  • I have to say that - having seen jaw dropping actions by cyclists - cyclists can be as bad roaders as drivers.

Obviously given that the OP's husband has decided that he's not cycling anymore this may not be of much use but he could always consider wearing a cycle camera on his helmet which could record (and thus provide evidence) for any future instances like this
