So Angry with Police

  • What exactly would you lke the police to do? It is your husbands word against the other mans. How does your husband know the taxi driver saw anything? I would assume your husband was too busy almost being assaulted to check the driver was actually in the car/ wasn't having a nap/reading a book and may have not seen anything.

If the taxi driver had infact seen the altercation this is what he had witnessed: A van driver is parked at the side of the road. A man cycles around the corner and for absolutely no reason at all starts hurling abuse at said van driver. Van driver gets out of van to confront the man and tried to calm cyclist down/keep cyclist away from him with hands to the chest. After a verbal argument the van driver could not make the cyclist see sense and so gets in his van and drives off.

Or should the taxi driver and police magically know exactly what has happened without any real proof?

It seems to me that you're more bothered about all of this that your husband probably is.
  • No my husband was turning right (he was first at the traffic lights) and the van was trying to push past him. There was nowhere for my husband to go.. Either under his wheels or towards the curb so therefore he fell into the curbside.. Of course my husband shouted at him.... Would you have just said oh thanks you pushed me off my bike let me buy you a drink???? It was the van driver that STOPPED HIS VAN... got out and then started pushing my husband not the other way round so at what point has my husband done something wrong??

As for calming down.. Absloutely not !!! Its because we accept this behaviour that we have to live in fear of these thugs and that's what he is.. Strange today.. He is ok shouting and swearing making all kinds of gestures from his van... Why isn't he a real man ?? Stop.. tell him to his face.. !!!

Might be worth getting a helmet cam at least if anything else happens whilst he is on his bike its taped.
  • He has put his bike up for sale.. He wont use it again.. Never used it since the police initially said they are dropping the case ... Rightly he says that he cannot use the bike anymore as it's just not safe..

Wow, mountain out of a mole hill and you're angry with the police?! If I went to the police every time this happened on the roads I would spend half my time there! Ignore the idiot and move on.

the van was trying to push past him and he fell into the kerb.
No I would not have said thanks for pushing me off as the driver didn't push him off, he fell off.

Was hubby driving on the left or in the middle of the road, could he not have used his brakes and stopped rather than riding into the kerb?

Do what I do. Get an abus lock with a universal attachment. It's easy to reach down and detach it from the bicycle. If you get into an altercation with anyone you can grab it, swing it up and it's got enough weight behind it to reduce their jaw to pulp. Better than a knuckle-duster.

Let me start by saying I find any sort of ism abhorrent, but, you cannot start yelling racism without any evidence that race has anything to do with it. I would hazard a guess that the police would have said the same regardless of race to anyone in this situation. The problem you have is that there is no evidence, no witness so it is your husband's word against the van driver. What can the police do? We cannot have a society where people are charged with offences based on no evidence, so all the police can do is say 'stay away from each other'.

As I see it all you are achieving is a) winding yourselves up to a frenzy and b) seriously giving the police officer the hump for accusing him/her of racism.

You didn't actually READ my post did you? I was describing what the taxi driver may have THOUGHT he saw because HE WAS NOT THERE FOR THE INITIAL PROBLEM. As I explained there are no actual witnesses so the police cannot do anything. Of course don't let that get in the way of you having a good whinge about the police will you?
