Hey LAM - funnily enough mine had a similar thing and after continuous bathing as you are it cleared after maybe 5 days - the vet (phone call for free) said could b dust in eye or straw piece or even hayfever which I was shocked at. She had a bit of a runny nose too so could well have been.

There's not a lot more you can do other than what you are without calling the vet, other than keep her out of this wind if you're having it too (in case it's from something blowing in her eye maybe?). I did see some strange ideas online but didn't venture into any. Hope she picks up by the weekend, I'm sure she will and have fingers crossed for you x

Well I have ended up calling the vet. They are coming this evening. It was really bad yesterday (I wont go into detail). I kept her in last night and she seemed happy to be in. It does actually look a lot better this morning but I need to know its ok. I am already entered up for Sunday and don't want to miss it. If it is conjunctivitis I need to know when its contagious or if it is. Cant go competing otherwise.

Luckily my vet comes out and then the bill comes at the end of the month.

I am starting to wonder if its possible to ever truly be debt free. I know there will always be the planned bills, the long term debt and then the things that 'crop up'. These are the things that throw a spanner in the works. I want to try and save my 'debt money' (money previously used on paying off the loan) so that I can build up some sort of buffer.

The other bits and bits that I can raise I am going to pay off some bills like :

    1) Self Assessment - I owe £245 - would like to pay this out of extra pennies. Due by 31 Jan 2015. It is in the budget but would be nice if I could save that money and it gives me something to keep the focus so that I remain in the right frame of DFW mind.

    2) Christmas presents - if possible. I only spend minimal and don't have many to buy for. Need to start thinking up some good ideas. My nectar points will buy food for xmas day - so far I have £35.

    Hiya hun

What did vet say? I hope she's ok - was it really "gungy" last night? Poor thing. Good luck for Sunday.

As for truly being DF, I know what you mean but they just become part of long term budget in my forecast. For example in 201x I plan to save for 201y planned costs plus emergency fund - that will of course take a while and wouldn't be in the 1st year (for me) of being DF. I guess it's a lot of readjusting but you will get there - look how much you've paid off in a fairly short amount of time.

Oh yes I am not complaining - glad to be free of the big debt. Just feel like I need something else to concentrate on - the tax money has been budgeted for but would be nice to find it elsewhere :D

Vet gave me some bute and some eye drops. Actually tonight it didnt look too bad but very red inside. She put the eye dye in to check nothing serious like ulcer but happy that its just conjunctivitis. Sunday it looked like (look away now if squeamish) .... custard running out her eye

I thought that's what you would say - I think when it's got to that stage it's definitely a vet call isn't it. Great that you got what you needed and I'm assuming the call out will be more than the bute sachets tho I've never had drops so not sure if they are expensive? Let us know how she gets on - hope she is fine very soon x

Its a lot better today thanks - little bit of white stuff. For a lanky 16.3 TB she was extremely well behaved for me to the put the drops in - she can throw a right paddy when she wants to. She must know I am helping her.

Call out is £45, examination £35, eye drops £10 and 8 sachets of bute £6 so £96. I gave her a cheque as I do still have £100 in the horse fund. I do have some bute but like to keep them for emergencies.

Another £5 from Swagbucks arrived this morning and £5 on its way from MySurvey.
