Thanks Chocs - I think I am going to do that in May (or look around) when my contract ends.

Had a bit of a bleurgh weekend. My little mare is still not right and I am scared now we start talking big vet bills! Vet just says just keep an eye on her but I am wondering whether I need a second opinion? She is insured but there is still the excess to think about. I suppose I cant complain really - in June I have had her 10 years and only had routine bills until 2 years ago when I had her scanned and put on the hormonal treatment she is on.

Better day today - although weather is awful out - like a sleety / snowy day - I don't think it can make its mind up.

I telephoned EON and have £75 making its way back to my account leaving £57 credit going forward. The DD still remains at £57 too so happy about that. Also logged into TCB and £3.19 payable :) Also have another £5 of 20ps to bank so should be able to make another loan overpayment this week.

I'm with eon too. They for some reason cancelled our DD when we moved house, so I never started it again. It's much easier now.

Hope your mare is ok x

    thanks Jwil.

I ended up getting a second opinion from a reproductive vet and we have agreed that there is nothing sinister (have taken bloods just to be sure) but have stopped the hormone treatment. It is never meant for long term use. The swelling is already subsiding and horse seems happier within herself. He was very thorough and did some neurological tests, some flexion tests and checked all her vitals. For £80 I feel much better and hopefully that's the end of the vet bills for now and I can get back to my debt busting.

EON's money has still not landed in my account despite them saying within 48 hours! So I currently have £15 that I may overpay to loan today - wanted to add the £75 from EON but can always do that next week.

Pay day next week - yippee so might play with my spreadsheets again today. My last bit of overtime due so that's all good.

Happy Friday everyone - hope its a good one for you.

    Hi LAM2011

Sorry you were given some duff information when you called the other day.

Refunds sent back to banks via Direct Debit arrangements usually hit accounts within 5 working days of being raised. I'm afraid, a refund hitting an account within 48 hours is highly unlikely and you shouldn't have been told this.

    Sorry again.

Thanks Malc, it has reached my account today :)

So £80 over paid to loan - balance now £5,485 - I know its still a lot of money but its so exciting to see it reducing at long last. I cannot believe that by the end of this year it will be gone! I have been in debt most of my life and cant believe its taken me this long to learn to live within my means.

It's a good feeling LAM :T I've found that all the hard lessons learned whilst paying off my debt have taught me some financial sense. I have bought one expensive item since becoming debt free, but it was researched and paid for out of my current account, real money, no credit card involved! You will be the same.

That's fantastic LAM. You will get there this year and that is such a good feeling x
  • LAM that'll be brilliant. When I am debt free I will feel as if I am rich as I pay so much out every month that my disposable cash is negligible. I only buy things when I have got to. I cannot wait for the day when I can say right I am off to get some new clothes and just lift a couple of hundred quid and spend it all on me !!
5 Year plan. April 2020 to June 2025- CC and mortgage free by time I'm 60
    Currently CC £23,674.36 /£14,895.41/£14315.42
    Mortgage £28,214.65/ £26,254.71/ £25,746.43
    By end 2020 I want CC at £ 19,000.00.
By end 2021 I want CC at £10,000.00
