Morning, DS is 14 and has always been a cuddle monster, which I love.

I woke up about 9am, and DS nipped though to say good morning while DH was in the kitchen. DS got into bed under the covers with me - we both have PJs on (top and bottom).

DH came back into the bedroom, saw us, and with a big sneer on his face said that he thought us being in bed together was 'wrong and unsuitable'.

TBH I'm shocked, DS is upset.

Am I being naive or is it really wrong for us to have a cuddle in bed when he's 14? How sad if so.

Mums like their boys to be cuddly. Dads like their boys to be tough. This is a bit of a generalisation. But it sounds like it applies here. Dad is probably thinking he should be out hanging off trees and playing football, not clinging onto mother.

Just for the record, I don't think there's anything wrong with it.

Tradition in our house, Sunday mornings, piling into mums bed for tea and choccy biccys, age irrelevant. The problem is your OH's.
Make the most of it while they still want to talk to you and before monosyllabic grunts set in.

Unless you were truly being inappropriate, which of course you weren't, is there ever an age where any affection towards children is wrong?

DH has made me feel dirty, like there's something wrong with me.

Although he has achieved his aim, as I very much doubt that we will ever do that again.

That's a shame, if your sons really taken it to heart. Was this a one off, as OH is coming across as a bit of a bully from the bits you've written.

I think there is nothing wrong with it. I asked my DH what he thought. He said your DH was an 'a@@hole' and there was nothing wrong with it.

I expect your DH is just jealous of your closeness.

I'm 35, and I still sometimes climb into my Mum's bed if I wake up first when we're staying, and my son does too - when you are 8, early morning cuddles with Mummy AND Granny seems very exciting.

DH thinks there are 2 ways of doing things - his way and the wrong way.

nope im 24 and i still go to my dads bed with the kids and his girlfriend and have morning cuddles and breakfast when i get to see him

my ds is 7 and as long as he has boxers on he can come into my bed for cuddles my dd is 4 and no amount of duct tape will keep clothes on that girl but she still comes and gives daddy cuddles i dont see the issue as long as you are appropriately dressed (hubby has boxers on i generally have baggy tshirt and undies)
