Appyling for jobs just to get benefits.

Most people are probably very foolish. A dead end job rarely leads to better jobs. I started out as chef and a hotel-restaurant, then working at McDonalds, and now all these dead end jobs with low pay. I'm a trained fitness instuctor with a City&Guilds in IT and I cannot do anything with them. I don't want to be a chef anymore; the hours are lousy and it is low pay. It is too stressfull. Plus they wouldn't allow me near a kitchen without updating my skills, so that means going to college AGAIN. All I get are dead end jobs. I could go back to training but after years of doing qualifications with no view to a job in them, going back there whilst getting into more debt does not seem appealing. And I've already moved several times in the past four years. Moving is very stressful and can lead to depression, which it did do about a year ago. And now I am expected to move yet again. I'll move when I get a job not beforehand.
These simplistic views that people have cannot stand up to the reality and the complexities of the jobs market and people's own lives.Don't trust a forum for advice. Get proper paid advice. Any advice given should always be checked0 -

Some, on the other hand.....ask about sick pay at the interview.

Everyone is different, so what i asked about sick pay big deal.:footie:0 -

I can only imagine you wanted to deliberately fail the interview. I can see no other reason for asking this - and I'm pretty much always on the side of the jobseeker.
I've never bothered looking at this when starting work, if it's the choice between JSA and work, work wins every time (much less stressful IMO and better paid!)
I was once forced to have a week off work as I had conjuctivitis that reacted very badly to multiple medications. I was paid in full for that week and actually felt awful about it (had only been in the job a month).
The job may not be what you wanted but it is something - you might even end up enjoying it.
You should have applied for the Royal Mail for Xmas temps, I've done that a few times and really liked it.0 -
Very sensible only applying for jobs that come with benefits, the only permie jobs I go for are those with a package, free gym, pension, % of salary bonus, health and dental care etc0

That's why the right wing who come out with this cruel crap should one day have a taste of their own medicine. They then might be a little bit more compassionate.
Expecting unemployed people to actively pursue employment is not the preserve of the political right. From the tone and content of your posts you seem to believe that you have every right to live off the hard graft of others without being subject to the same graft yourself. Nice attitude.0 -

I dont see him saying that. Advisors talk down to people for no reason. They are little hitlers. I have actually asked my advisor how he can do his job.:footie:0 -

My Jobcentre advisor just said it is a numbers game, his leaving now, though.
Took me down the office shouting this girl is so desperate for work she has even tried PPI!! never cringed so much in all my life, for all the unemployed job bashers I got my hand shock, doubt anyone would be comfortable saying "alright your partner may have died who is paying for funeral" in such an heavy handed disgraceful manner, there comes a time when you have to get respect for yourself, because no one else will, nah I don't go to work to make people cry - and I'm PROUD0 -
