I don't get it. Surely, if the road is so busy, you don't sleep that great at night either (police and ambulances still do night shifts?), so your aim should be to be moving out of this place? Isn't a job the way to be able to get more income so you could indeed found somewhere else to move so you could get better sleep during the day? Aren't you keeping yourself in a vicious circle?

Sorry if this looks like spamming but I have to get it off my chest. It is really annoying to see right wing views get so much attention. These views are so stupid and simplistic.

I apply for any job I can find. Now it seems that applying for any job is bad too because I am apparently, according to the right wing, "just applying for jobs to get my benefits".

Damned if you do, damned if you don't.

There will come a day when these ignorant people will find themselves unemployed. I don't wish that on anyone, but I hope it happens to them one day and they'll see how hard life is on the dole!!

    Idiots.

If not for your benefits what other reason can you give for applying for any job, why apply for any job when you have no intention of taking them
    Be Alert..........Britain needs lerts.

if your not comfortable doing something you shouldnt be railroaded and bullied into it.

My local jobcentre does this they arrange interviews for a factory. Its all awful shifts the rate of pay is minimum wage and there is no extra shift allowance.
They then try and bully you into taking it.

Maybe the factory should try paying a decent wage and then they will get people without having to hook up with the jobcentre. Awful practice.

It is silent at night except for the odd car passing. Busses don't run after 11pm. The odd ambulance or police car might whizz past on a Saturday night. But through the day it is a constant noise. I have industrial ear-muffs and although they drown out the cars, you can hear everything else including people slamming the door because I live in a shared house.

Move? Hell no? I've just moved in. Plus it is cheap and moving would probably be a bad decision. I'll move when a get a job not before hand! That's just on past experiences.

The only vicious circle I am in is not finding suitable work. My sleep pattern is not a vicious circle but would be if I took night shifts. My body cannot deal with night shifts, and my mum is the same as me. She avoids them like the plague. I asked my doctor and even he said that he would not advocate night shifts if they are going to ruin your health. So I think it is a wise decision not to accept work involving a night shift. If you don't like that then that is tough. It is my life and I should have at least some control over it.

I'm applying for jobs to get work. I receive benefit to avoid starvation and destititution not because I want benefits. That's why the right wing who come out with this cruel crap should one day have a taste of their own medicine. They then might be a little bit more compassionate.

Most people would have taken the job and looked at it as a stepping stone onto a better job that they may enjoy further.

Some, on the other hand.....ask about sick pay at the interview.

Most people are probably very foolish. A dead end job rarely leads to better jobs. I started out as chef and a hotel-restaurant, then working at McDonalds, and now all these dead end jobs with low pay. I'm a trained fitness instuctor with a City&Guilds in IT and I cannot do anything with them. I don't want to be a chef anymore; the hours are lousy and it is low pay. It is too stressfull. Plus they wouldn't allow me near a kitchen without updating my skills, so that means going to college AGAIN. All I get are dead end jobs. I could go back to training but after years of doing qualifications with no view to a job in them, going back there whilst getting into more debt does not seem appealing. And I've already moved several times in the past four years. Moving is very stressful and can lead to depression, which it did do about a year ago. And now I am expected to move yet again. I'll move when I get a job not beforehand.

These simplistic views that people have cannot stand up to the reality and the complexities of the jobs market and people's own lives.
