If an employer doesn't pay you when sick then after three days you are entitled to SSP as long as you are eligible by NI contributions.

It's best to make doctor and other appointments out of work hours or use holidays as you aren't entitled to paid time off legally.
Lost my soulmate so life is empty.

I can bear pain myself, he said softly, but I couldna bear yours. That would take more strength than I have -

  • Some will only pay SSP, some will pay more. There is no general rule.

If you have to attend a medical appointment in work time then you will take it unpaid or as holiday. Some employers will pay you for the time. Again, no fixed rules.

If you are working full time you will be eligible. If you are not you would need to claim ESA.

Yes it is, It's true a LOT of businesses no matter who they are do not pay full company sick pay. You will just get SSP on the 4th day of sickness

I have NEVER asked about sick pay at any interview so you must only be thinking of sick pay when you apply/go for a job.

What happens when you need a doctors or dentist appt. Encouraged to get it out of work hours but since my docs don't open till 9.30 and are closed at 6pm its a bit hard so we were allowed 1 hour so even at 9.30am I couldn't get back to work for 10am so would have to get the last apt of the day or call in sick if an emergency etc or take a half day holiday.

I really don't get what you are asking?

You are now on income based JSA? I am too

You get a job and the company pays only SSP?

Go sick for 1-3 days and get 1-3 days short pay

    That is what happens.
