I don't see "thank you" on every one of your posts?

Is it true alot of factories dont pay sick pay.

    what happens in that case

also if your working full time what happens if you need the doctors or dentists.

They pay you for working for them, and you get statutory sick pay when you cannot.

You need to either use your holidays for doctors etc, or go outside work time.

I used to get 2 weeks at full pay and 2 weeks at half pay, then it went to ssp for anything longer. Still not a question I would ask at interview and no this board really, OP do you intend to go sick? or even want the job if it's offered.

For me, at the last employer, it was 20 weeks full pay followed by SSP...I didn't ask at the interview and it didn't form any part of my consideration for the job.

This was, however, not factory work.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

I do think sick pay when you work in a factory is limited, from experience of what I used to get everyone got it shop floor to office. But one inequality was the office staff got free bupa and us factory workers were left to the nhs.

They would have paid tax on agreed value of BUPA subscription. The value of the BUPA suscrtiption would have been considered as part of their overall package value and some may well have preferred to have the money to spend on what they wanted.

So, despite the fact you were advised not to ask, you actually did?

Probably not been offered the job and OP has learned a new way of not being offered a job.

It only makes sense to ask about these very minor details if you are choosing between two jobs (or negotiating a move). A job with no sick pay (above SSP) is still far better than no job, and so it's not clear why somoene would ever ask about this before being offered it, as all it can do is sabotage the outcome.

I've never asked about sick pay when starting a new job, and if somoene asked me about it when I was interviewing them, I'd immediately be worried about what the question said about them.
