  • Thanks for the posts and messages guys, ended up getting an ok sleep, got to work early. Sorted things out first thing(even though means I wasn't earning for first 2 hours of day as on price work and was more or less just yapping to my bosses) it was good to clear the air, they seen my point of view which is good as things seem to be changing a bit. Still got a job and working tomorrow....only bad news Is one or two jobs to be changed which means il more or less be working next week for free but you can't win them all, iv managed to keep a 50k+ a year job and I suppose if I get this next week over with and crack on from there hopefully my savings will grow with my happiness. Got to look at earnings over the year as a whole and hopefully next year I have that 15k target money behind me. Right now it looks like February could be a no save month...hopefully don't have to dip into savings either though, time will tell. Either way more or less having a no spend 3 weeks to complete February. If not much coming in I need to make sure not much going out!! Feel relieved after today, same routine as last night. Shower and bed, wait for oh to get home :)

    My update is a bit late, sorry, but I managed to save £200 in January (despite a lot of expenses coming in for the house we let out). Pleased with that start and should be able to keep it up as the year goes on :)

    048 = £200/£1500
    £12k in 2019 #084 £3000/£3000
    £2 Savers Club 2019 #18 TOTAL:£394 (2013-2018 = £1542)

    Last month I had some unforeseen expenses and couldn't save as much as I wanted -_-. Yesterday I was able to transfer £2,500 to my savings accounts...i need to be super frugal for the rest of the month and ensure that I don't touch any of that money! It is so inspiring to read about how well everyone is doing. Lets all keep up the good work!

    I'm feeling a bit demoralised at the moment.

    I knew January was not going to be a great month for saving due to paying off the Christmas expenditure on the credit card. Plus on the 30th Jan, I had a long weekend in Vegas. But I was sad to see just a paltry £200 was all I could manage to save.

    DH had been talking about buying a new bike for a while and I asked him to wait until spring. But the bike was reduced in the January sales so that was purchased. Plus DS & DH went on an expensive bike maintenance course. Ironically they both came back with broken bikes! Then they entered BHF London to Brighton bike ride and the fees were added to the credit card. DD needed a new coat and school bag. So, with my Vegas expenditure, the credit card has taken a massive hammering in January. That's okay I thought, I can concentrate on reducing it in February. But no, DH now needs a bike stand costing £150, plus it is MIL's birthday, my Mum's birthday, DD & DH's birthdays this month. I can only see the credit card spirally upwards.

    On the plus side, I booked a UK holiday. As a family, we have a great fondness for visiting the USA. So I booked a UK holiday quickly because I know I will start trawling airline websites looking for a transatlantic deal otherwise. It seems odd to spend money to avoid me spending any more money, but it seems logical in my head!!

    So today I'm a bit sad. I would love to see my savings balance grow in leaps and bounds but I fear it may reduce to help pay off the credit card.

  • I posted a while ago about needing a current account to use mobile banking app with Barclays and i made a new one.

    Well they created it as a separate customer so I still cant use the app :((((

    After 2 phone calls last week promising me it would take 48 hours...2 weeks later its still not done.

    To say I was annoyed this morning is an understatement.

    Well it's going to take 48 working hours from Monday (yeah sure) but as a good will gesture they gave me £60.
