Thanks sky blue, maybe I'm reading too much into it I'm just going to get a little row but either way hope it works out I can keep my job. Good money and need to focus on working hard keeping my head down to complete my £15k goal this year so I won't be so worried should I end up out of work at any point in future. Bit of an eye opener will just have to wait and see what happens. Away for a shower and early night, hopefully wake up fresh and ready to discuss things as opposed to argue about them.:eek:Living frugally at 24

Does anyone have any tips on how to save money and how to keep up the momentum over the full year?
Thanks
Saving newbie here so not really my place to give advice, just sharing what I doAs other people have mentioned I just made savings part of my monthly budget. So just as every month I will have set expenses such as rent, transport and phone bill that I budget for, I count savings as another expense. I transfer the money on the first of the month (could be pay day if I had a normal income) which takes away willpower as the money's already out of my account.
And cydney65 I have found a kindred spirit! I love fiddling with all my spreadsheets, I have pie charts of where the money goes and all... Aren't we so much fun!
And good luck YBSave 12k in 2014: n. 104, goal £4k, achieved £4000

nat21luv i completely agree with you. I keep 1k in my current account and 5k in a second current account that pays a slightly higher rate (1%) for emergencies... I like having that buffer incase of those expenses.... say my car breaks down!... or someone in my family needs to borrow a few quid...
There's a BS that would give 5% on your £1k+, and four banks that give 3% on £5k. Ideal for an emergency fund.Eco Miser

Good luck, YB!
A minor update: I managed to cut back and add in an extra £350 to boost February's savings early. I get paid in a week so let's hope I can manage on what's left in my current account!
Could I ask a question of those with Nationwide Flex Direct accounts please - when you've hit the £2,500 limit is there any issue with transferring the monthly interest out with the cycled £1000 each month to an account that will put it to work?
Same with Yorkshire Bank but I'm a few months away from hitting that target yet.0 -
Hi Homeownertobe, no problems at all. I do it every month for both my Flex Direct and my Yorkshire Bank accounts. A quick electronic transfer into my 3% Santander one, and it moves across immediately.Save £12k in 2022 thread #7:
