  • Hi

I would like to sign up as well please.

I am targeting £5000. £12K for now seems daunting. Have just started childcare for my 10 month old son.
  • Hi Gang...

Great to see such good progress being made by everyone!!
Having a hideously tight month here as have just forked out £4k for our big holiday in April... Owch!

Still, we've managed to save the bare minimum £600 into my regular saver and my long-term account. Don't think there'll be much more added to that this month.

So, currently sitting at £1400 / £10000 target... Nice to see it starting to grow!!
    :T

Keep up the great work!! x
:T DEBT FREE AS OF APRIL 2013! :T

I'm a bit dubious about committing myself to a figure, but sod it! I need a target and I need motivation! So my target for 2014 is £8,000.

I've never saved for anything in my life before so this is a huge challenge for me! Particularly because I'm on reduced income now that I've returned to work from maternity leave and we have the crippling cost of childcare but I'm totally into it.

Our total at this moment is £943 (i think!) but I'm hoping that we will be adding £230 next week from a homer that husband is due paid for. There's another £200 due from another of husband's jobs but not sure when that'll be.

I'm very hopeful that the total at the end of February will be close to £1500!

    Must stay positive :)
    CC1: £4481.14/ £5031.14 (12% paid off, £600) | CC2:£3307/ £3807 (14.4% paid off, £550) | Loan: £10,528.20/ £15,792.30((33% paid off, £5,264))

July debt total: £24,630.44 | New debt total: £18,316.34 | Total debt paid: £6,414.10 (26%)

Look on the bright side nat, at least it is not your credit card maxed out!

I'm feeling a bit low. Think it might be February blues. I need some warmth and sunshine but July seems an awfully long time away. I wish I could add to my savings more often as well. £1.87 per week is just not giving me the buzz that it used to.

Och come on gap, you've come such a long way in the past 6 years, get a grip! *gives self a good talking to*
    Mortgage at 12/07/2022 = £175,000
    Mortgage today = £161,690.76
    300 271 payments to go.
    House buyout fund £21,000/£40,000

Don't be down on yourself GAP! You're doing well to be saving at all- lots of people don't bother and are up to their eyeballs in debt with no savings to speak of.

I know it's easier said than done though, and we all have our down days when it's just not adding up quickly enough!

Can you set yourself some small short-term goals? When you hit these goals, it always gives a nice boost of enthusiasm.

If all else fails, just have a pat on the back from me for getting this far.

How very annoying! Once it's done, that should be it though and you can work on building up those savings again next month.

Aww thank you. That is so sweet of you. :) I have actually just typed up a "first post" to start a diary in DFW as my property is shared equity with a housing association and I would like to buy them out. When I was in debt, I found keeping a debt free diary made me more accountable to myself and helped me pay off the debt far faster than if I hadn't. It gave me a total buzz to see my debts disappearing. I am already feeling the buzz just from typing up the post so I think I am going to go with it.

That's an excellent idea girlatplay. I had a DFW diary at one point...mind you it ended up being a dachshund thread for those with a dachshund or wanting a dachshund!

Another £7 added to my savings and a whole 3p in interest in my hamlet fund LOL
