Yes, it will be strange for you, and you wouldn't be human if you didn't have a few worries about it, but you will look back in January and wonder what you were worried about. Honestly.

Are you an animal-y person, and do you have permission (or own your own house) to have any pets? You could always foster an animal over Christmas - get a dog out of cold kennels for Christmas, offer it a fairly quiet home to relax in, and as a result, it will give you something to do. 'Weird' walks alone become essential dog walks, it'll entertain you in the home, and you'll get a nice warm fuzzy glow :)

Could be worth contacting local rescues if you're interested.

Do? Cook a Turkey roast, pull crackers, wear silly hats, watch tele, chat, play cards, board games, cry over the shows that re- unite the long lost loved ones :o;)

What question did you ask? :)

If you have a freezer, get yourself into a shop and buy a turkey crown, pigs in blankets, stuffing balls, frozen veg and frozen roast potatoes. Check before buying that in can be frozen, or check that the use by date is after Christmas. Oh and you'll need some gravy and cranberry sauce. Everything will have cooking instructions printed down the side :D

Get your friend to give you a hand, ask her to bring dessert, add Christmas crackers and you have a Christmas dinner!

Check out the logo game as well, we had a brilliant time playing it after dinner last year. Hope I've helped.

Take-aways for Christmas day? I don't think any/many will be open.

People elevate Christmas Dinner to a heightened status. Honestly, for two it is dead simple. For what you would spend on a take out you can do a lovely dinner.

If you would rather not even cook a bird get a ready cooked chicken, tesco's finest roast potatoes, ready prepped veg and ready made gravy. If you like Christmas pud you can microwave it, and have ready made custard.

Or, if you would like to cook proper, just get a turkey crown (deboned and easy to carve) and do all the above.

I cook for 8 every year and do most of the above apart from the roasties and the gravy, but if you are a novice cook the help is out there.
  • Ready made would be good. I can't ask her properly tomorrow what she likes and take it from there.

Coming round to the idea of spending it with someone
