What to do..

Options
Some of you may remember my earlier thread where I said I will be spending christmas on my own.

I was talking to a friend at work and now I have a guest as she has no one either (Her daughter is at her fathers) so she is spending christmas eve through to 27th with me.

Christmas eve, just having a dominos infront of the box. But what do you "Do" on christmas day. Like I was planning a kebab and Dads army or are you being served. Whichever box set I grabbed first.

What do folk do?

You've got to play a board game of some kind, and a nice stroll just after it gets dark to see all the christmas trees lit up through people's windows, then back home for some mulled (or un mulled if you prefer) wine and watch the big movie in your dressing gowns :D

Why on earth would it be weird going for a walk with a friend?! If they are close enough to be spending from Christmas Eve to the 27th with you how can it be weird to go for a walk?!

exactly - it would have to be a really good friend of mine for me to want to spend 3 or 4 entire days with them over Christmas!

No, I don't mean a romantic stroll (although that's also lovely if you're equipped with a partner:D). I mean a walk-off-the-turkey-dinner walk! I'm dead nosy so enjoy a bit of people watching while we're out strolling too.

    Phew!

Thats what I thought you was getting at haha. A friend walk would be good.
  • Christmas day? Well, I run round like a mad woman to fulfil family obligations. Your day sounds lovely with a kebab and Dad's Army.

We have Christmas lunch, followed by the Queen's speech. I go to my OH's parent's for a few hours. Then back to mine where we play Trivial Pursuit.

I read your thread and am glad you have someone to spend the time with and no longer see it as dead time as there's no work to go to.

Go down the pub Xmas lunchtime ... most are open at lunchtime only and serve roasties or similar freebies.

Then you can spend the afternoon preparing the dinner. Then eat it at 5-6. Then veg out in front of the telly lobbing your sweet wrappers towards the bin.

Boxing Day - go for a walk... then find a pub that's open. Then back home to delve into the fridge and see what's for tea..... then on with the telly and out with the tinned chocs again.

Random lobbings of satsumas, nuts and mince pies should be done every 45 minutes or so.

Ask your friend what she would like to do, and discuss it with her! We have a dog so walks on Christmas day are obligatory, but your friend's idea of a blissful Christmas may be just to slob out in front of the TV all day, with an Indian takeaway (other takeaways are available ;) ) and a box of chocolates! My OH thinks that a trip to a pub Christmas morning is obligatory, luckily we can take the dog too.
Good enough is good enough, and I am more than good enough!:j

If all else fails, remember, keep calm and hug a spaniel!
  • I'll drop her a text. See what she says.

Im just not used to having someone round. it'll be wierd if you get me
