Well done, Frugalsod, YS can be a lifesaver. I was in Moronsons yesterday at just the right time and came away with more than £60 meat for £10.20 . I have portioned it up and frozen it but have got at least 20 meals out of it. ( steak, chops, beef joints, so good value to me).

Was hoping for a NSD today after turning down my friend's offer of meeting up for coffee....however OH told me that the car's fuel light has come on, so I'll have to put some more in on my way to work this evening...

Trying to work out how much money we will have once I'm on maternity leave, and using the SOA tool, we apparently will have around £350 after everything we budget for.....I currently earn another £200 on top of that, and have worked out we spend a hell of a lot on rubbish!!

Got a freezer full of meat at the moment, however we don't have any veg left other than potatoes, so might have to take a trip up the road to L1DL.....would love to walk as it's only 10 minutes, but my hips wont last that long, so will probably take the car and stick some fuel in at the garage next door at the same time...

Not looking to have a NSD until maybe Thursday now as I've got various errands to run which either involve paying for parking or going to shops!

Right, Time to get up and see how much energy I can muster for cleaning the kitchen and sorting out the random cupboard of plastic tubs! Also got to do a few loads of washing as we are all desperate, so hoping i can get some out on the balcony to dry without it getting rained on or getting a letter through the door reminding me we're not allowed to dry washing on the balcony! grrr bloomin management companies!!!

    Happy Sunday Everyone!

    Wow, that is AMAZING :j

May I ask, where do you go and at what time?
"One hundred years from now, it will not matter what kind of car I drove, what kind of house I lived in, how much was in my bank account, nor what my clothes looked like but the world may be a little bit better because I was important in the life of a child."

Just !!!!ed up a phone call that could have gotten me work. I'm so annoyed at myself... I got all tongue tied.. Just sent them a follow up email an hour later to say thanks for the call etc... :(

I really need a job. We are living off OH wages and I feel like such a bum. Esp since I gave up my job to move out here.. Just feeling like a waste of space today.

As long as you are doing things around the home so they OH does not have to then you are doing what you can.

  • I need help.

So, I've been at my current job for 1 year almost. I earn 19k but am on the same payband as a junior manager because my role is one of quite a big responsibility, to put it concisely I manage installations in the South East, (below the Thames, from Southampton to Dover) and am responsible for 1 person in the office who is my administrator and then I manage teams of installers who all are down South. I enjoy my job, its very busy and the day goes oh so quickly.

Now, I had a call today from a recruiter I registered with before I got this job as they have an Account Manager position literally across the road from where I work on the industrial estate. Not actually looking to move jobs because I like my job and I'd only move if the pay was worth it, said this to the recruiter who asked if I would be interested in the AM role, salary is 25k.

Thats a 6k increase. Now, I would lose all my tax credits (I don't mean that as a negative really) and I think I would gain a little more income overall. As in the increase in income wouldn't really be that much more than drop in tax credits. Think it equates to £80 a month more.

Although I might be wrong and it actually might be that the increase negates the decrease and evens out. Jeeeeez is there even any point me going to this?!

I made a job move last year and think I may have made a mistake. Not much more money but loads of stress. I am gaining new skills but I really miss the lovely people I worked with. I'm not saying it was a definite mistake as it may lead to better things, but do go into it with eyes wide open. Ask if there are any current or future staffing issues or any other issues to be aware of - they won't tell you that and then when I started I thought "oh !!!!" and wouldn't have taken it if I'd known (but too late then). Don't let me put you off though, just do your research.:)

  • 4 NSD's in a row so I'm happy. Nothing spent that wasn't pre- spent in baggies.
Though I'm definitely going to go over my grocery budget this month as I've been stocking the shelves for the next couple of months as they'll be a bit lean here on the farm as last seasons veg is just finishing, and the new seasons veg won't be ready to sell till about june/july!
Joy of life that has been seriously downsized :D Off to re-read an old book:) and contemplate selling a load of very vintage books I've been given!

Well I got a call back and might have an interview! :o Sometimes being bold has its consequences...

OH earns quite a lot and where I am, ladies seem to not work and mainly the men work! I try to make his life easier, you know, clothes done, house cleaned, dinner made and make his lunches for him.
I do tutor around 7.5 hours a week but its not a heap of money..

The job I'm going for is full on and the wages aren't great at the start.. OH thinks I shouldn't go for it as the wages are low but its better than being at home during the day

I guess I just want to feel like I am contributing to our house.. I know I am in a way but I guess I just want to feel like I could stand on my own two feet.

It also will allow you to save furiously for anything that you might want or to clear debts. If the pay per hour is derisory then prepare for an escape route out to a better paying job. It gets easier if you are already working.

  • Hi Frugalites xxx

Long time no post!! March has been a truly awful month on the personal front so I've not posted on the forum too much, just in my diary.
Frugally speaking, March has been completely all over the place. Some NSDs but some big spends too. Lost the run of myself a bit but hoping to get back on track ASAP!

Friends, family and lovely online forum friends have really kept me going recently, after coming up against some horrid people in RL recently. But I'm getting there!! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=PstrAfoMKlc
