I assume these are chickens? Will you make them jumpers?

Whoops! That would have been helpful of me wouldn't it? Yep, ex-battery hens :)

No, I won't make them jumpers but we will put some blankets over the top of the coop when the night starts to draw in, and we'll have to watch for a few days that they do go to bed - some girls simply don't have a clue what 'the norm' is as they've all lived in cages all their lives, and some girls just simply don't have the leg strength to climb the ladder thingie. It's pretty cold out there but we have 4 fullly feathered girlies from our existing gaggle so they should help keep the warmth up over night, as well as feeding them some warm porridge before bedtime. BHWT didn't mention during the day as it goes.... so I will check that with them when I go tomorrow

And if they suggest making them jumpers, there will be a lot of head scratching and sudden googling from me tomorrow, lol :rotfl:

  • Have cut down on trips into town since starting this frugal malarkey as I tend to end up wandering around the shops and getting tempted by things I don't need, so was a bit wary about going with friends yesterday. But, came home with hair dye (discounted, necessity), some books (library, so free!), and a top (already in the sale, but extra discount for a tiny loose thread!). And treated myself to a hot chocolate - Debenhams are giving them away free this week if you show cafe staff their tweet about it.

Having a quiet weekend, cheap swim time tonight and then seeing what I can make for dinners out of the cupboard.

    How lovely of you!!!

My dad once had ex battery hens and they were better within months and the difference in them AND the quality of their eggs once they got some freedom and I like to think "were happy" was unbelievable! The colour, the size, everything!

When I clear my debt, get some savings, get the hang of the frugal thing, I dream of buying a cottage/bungalow and having hens out the back, all will be ex-battery!

    Well done you! :T x

Not much to report at the moment, as I've been at work for the last two days - but I've have 3 NSD's on the trot.

I quite like going shopping with my friend - watching her shop is almost as much fun as buying things myself...and a lot cheaper!:rotfl:

No travelling sausages high-jinks for me today as I was stuck in the office all day. Still, I discovered that my small biz did better this month than expected, OH now knows how to make white sauce (he wanted to make a fish pie) and it is Friday :j:j:j

OH is still boasting as he didn't get any lumps in his sauce (I did tell him if he did just to whisk it, people get hung up on that for some reason  ) Fish pie now eaten and it was ok (fish is not my favourite :o)

Weekend - bit of shopping, sort out shop space (small biz) and cuddle new DGD :D

Oh and housework by the looks of it
