Taking 2 bags of books to Cs while Im out and looking for more long sleeved t shirts in the Cs so have put a limit on my spend. tea is sorted from the huge piece of pork I bought yesterday, the rest will be frozen.

    Have good day all xxx

I am on a 12 week weight management course at my local community centre and I know how dedicated and determined you have to be to stick to a new regime

Keep going and perhaps we can support each other

Have a look at this website

    https://smartswaps.change4life.co.uk/

Great ideas AND money off coupons. We can be fit and frugal :rotfl:

    H

Thanks for the link, I will check it out soon. My local community centre is starting a free fortnightly weight management thing at the end of the month which I have thought about signing up for.

At the moment I am using Paul McKenna's Emotional Eating book and it does help. I just need to be aware of how tiredness can affect me and actually allow myself some down time. I tend to come home from work and its straight into organising and running the house mode.

Well I had some spending today, as my first Abel and Cole veg box arrived.

Here are comments for those that requested info. The veg came in cardboard box and I have taken them out put them away. The boxes are easy to fold flat and pack away. Most of the veg came loose ie carrots and cabbage broccoli but I prefer the lack of wasteful additional packaging. As this was my first was my first order I got a recipe card for a different recipe for a variation of coleslaw, and some others which are prepunched for a binder. I selected a bottle of red wine and got an organic red wine, which I will taste later. Last of all, a big 250page veg box companion cookbook, filled with recipes and tips on storing your veg so you get the best out of your veg box. The delivery charge was 99p and the minimum order is £12.50 so more than the small delivery box alone. So I got an additional kilo of cooking apples to make up the balance to comply with the minimum order requirements. I think that I will have enough for one or two weeks easily.
It's really easy to default to cynicism these days, since you are almost always certain to be right.

Well, after having a very spend-free week at work, I'm abot to have a spending morning tomorrow.. I've just seen on fb that the BHWT are looking for homes still for some of their girlies tomorrow and we have lost 4 out of 8 or our ex-batts in the last 6 months (age :() so I've just put us down to collect another 8 'girls with no knickers' (as I am happy to have the more bald ladies :rotfl:) tomorrow. There will be a donation per bird and I'll buy them out of my Christmas money. Woo hoo!:D:dance:

I get paid on Monday so I can also clear off my tax return payment too - phew

    Hiya..
Been trying to catch up with all the posts on here while feeling far to excited about the fact we are mooooving :rotfl: finally a fresh start after a crappy few years!
Money wise we will need all the help to be frugal that we can get as it's more rent & less house yet it does come with an orchard!!
All I can think of is the freedom from where we are now, it will also help DH as he's right on the doorstep for his job = HUGE fuel savings!!

I shall go back to the start when I get 5 mins & have a proper read to gather some of the fantastic ideas you all have.. Thanks :D x

MadamMim, I LOVE your username - how cool! I call our female dog Mim - no reason why other than the fact that I love the character in the film ... "the maaAAaaarvelous, Mad-Madam-Mim" Hehehe...

It confused our dog to start with as her name is Ruby, but she now answers to either (and actually answers Mim more readily as she knows it means I'm in a cheeky mood so more likely to make a big fuss or give her a treat from the kitchen, lol)

Last nights tea was lasagne from freezer, still have half of it left so it sill also be tea tonight.im not the biggest of fans of eating the same thing 2 days in a row, but needs must

We intentionally cook up lasagnes big enough for two dinners (actually, we make 2 in one go so we get 4 dinners from one cooking session) But we stagger the dinners by having something else inbetween. We cook the lasagne for dinner 1, then day 2 we have something different, then day 3 the lasagne comes back out of the fridge and recooked :)

it has been one of those weeks!!! :(

It's not been the fabbest of weeks I agree - are you the lady who works in the city with the well travels rescued sausges that did the journey on the underground? lol. It made me think of the milage 1 pack of Go-Ahead biscuits managed in my pocket one week... I was munching one a day in the mornings as I was feeling sicky that week and they travelled from South Cambridge to Kings Cross, then on the underground to Morgate, twice a day for 3 days.. they were very well travelled by the time I'd polished them off :rotfl:

I'm so glad it's Friday as work is unsettled at the mo with budget cuts etc... it's definately making me look forward to my weekends more than normal

Check out http://theppk.com too, they have great veggie recipes. Not that I'm a veggie.

Oh thanks kb_soma. I'm not a veggie either but I have a tendancy to like veggie things - it's a well known fact that unless it's something I detest, I noturally opt for a full veggie meal in restaurants without even realising I'm doing it :p

Was dreading taking muttley to the vet this morning to investigate what I thought was a growth on his chest, but she diagnosed it as no more than a 'fatty lump' which older dogs are prone to. I blubbed with relieve and she must have been pleased to get rid of me as didn't charge me for the consultation. A very kind vet and a very frugal visit :).
