I used to religiously finish books.
Then, when I was 27 and I almost died from a pulmonary embolism I decided that as there are too many books out there for me to read in my lifetime, and since I couldn't be sure when I'd die, if the book didn't entertain, educate or improve me it was out of there.
No mercy to bad books:D“The ideas of debtor and creditor as to what constitutes a good time never coincide.”

Yup - green's so not his colour, sweetie!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0

Finishing books is an aim for me, though, I feel it's cheating not to. It bothers me if I don't.
I share a lot of books with my mother, and she doesn't think I've been reading enough to pass over to her recently. She was very busy Nov and Dec so she didn't manage to pre-read the books she gave me for my birthday and Christmas, which is most unlike her!0 -

I will keep extensive notes on the bath. I might even read the things missing in that list......I know we had catch 22 somewhere, Have I even read it? I have no memory of reading it . I don't own the faraway tree.
How will you cope with the withdrawal symptoms? It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.0 -

The toughest thing will be it will mean if he has a signing or something on a Monday he'll have to be in town at the weekend because his dongle won't Cope with the download limits for that sort of thing at the weekend. Its really not long though.
He needs a bigger dongle, then. Man up, I say!
Seriously, if you can get 4G, you can get seriously good download speeds with a mobile connection. Bandwidth is quite expensive, but if it's for the sort of work that I think he does, the cost is chickenfeed. And yes, I remember you saying that chickenfeed is expensive these days.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

I will miss you lot and emailing my friends. I will miss quick answers and simple solutions.
If its weather like this I'll use my time to weed more and work in garden. Otherwise it will be the kick up the !!!! I need to sort out spring cleaning maybe.
I have a business event at the end of the month which makes it a bit frustrating to not have email but, so be it, means I have more than enough to be sorting out for now!0 -

Dongle is a back up we pay for to give DH piece of mind to the service we have at home. Work only pay for what's used. If it were a longer time, major player in our longer term coping regime or something funded, sure, but its unnecessary for such a short space of time..

If liR could live for a couple of years with no heating or hot water, I guess she has the resilience to cope without the internet for a few weeks.
LiR how will the midweek comms with FiR work? Will you be in a telephone box in the middle of rural nowhereland?
I'm thinking more of the potential collapse of the nice people thread than whether lir can cope without internet!
I am solely on 3G after ditching BT. The speed issue is fine tethering to my phone (upgraded contract to unlimited internet which I'm sure lir or fir could do for £3 or something temporarily). I can stream standard definition movies and tv programs. HD movies take a while, but that was an accident when I did that!Everything that is supposed to be in heaven is already here on earth.
