Re the Coursera course, for anyone who is interested.

You'll hear us talking about the pre-read and the papers, videos etc. If someone wants to find out more, there are three possible tracks you can take.

    1) Read all the papers, watch all the videos, take the quizzes and exams and try to get a distinction. You need to get 85% or over to get a distinction certificate. You can take the quiz multiple times to get to this level.
    2) Watch the videos, take the quizzes on the video lectures only, and get a pass. You need to score 85% or over to get a pass certificate. As with 1, you can take the quizzes multiple times to get that score.
    3) Watch the videos just for fun, so you register on the course with the expectation of not getting a certificate or anything out of it. ETA: other than the knowledge, obviously. There are a lot of people doing the course for a second time, my sense is that they did this first time round, enjoyed it lots and have registered for a second time to get a certificate.

The course is hosted by Duke University. So you get the chance to take a free of charge taster course from an Ivy League establishment.

It's actually good fun, and you can do it for the most part in chunks of fewer than 30 minutes.

The kiwi slept with non RP in bed last night. This met with his approval. This morning he's enjoyed the view from a little town window, especially loving school run time, loved children tapping at the window at him and offered all of them his chew toy through the window.

Non RP reckons he might settle till the weekend but that kiwi 'll have had enough by then (though non RP is saying would like to keep him for ever). Big dog doesn't settle away from me/home despite actually being non RP's dog, but we're considering trying again with a swap on Sunday, just for two days, which should see the bulk of work here on site finished and possibly even heating. Oh, kiwi apparently LOVES radiators, non RP reckons he'll be ready for ours to work, he is curling up in front one in what ever room they are in after testing it for heat and expressing delight.

I put dog dog with big dog last night. She was NOT impressed. Its clear to me that when the heating is finished and we've had a spring clean its going to be worth considering separate bedrooms ( I know, I know, severe posh alert). Dog dog and kiwi like it hot and so can be some where warmer and where big dog is less bullish, and big dog can feel safer about her own space and have it a bit cooler. The joys of next winter should be better control over this sort of thing.

Awww. Lovely description of Kiwi enjoying his holiday with NRP.

Um... which dog was not impressed about sleeping in the same room? They're both "she" so I can't tell which you mean.

    Well it's biopsy #2 tomorrow.

We had a dinner with SiL to celebrate one of her kids' birthdays. I was quite late as I had to work then wanted to pick up a present for her son on the way and the traffic was horrendous. They had the hump with me pretty clearly but TBH I have bigger fish to fry right now.

I'm not worried about the test but it is pretty unpleasant so I'm not looking forward to it. It's horrible enough for them to give me a local anesthetic before sticking the needle in. At least I get a day off work for it so it could be worse.

I'm hoping to meet FiL afterwards for lunch as it's near his place. Then I can feel an afternoon of indolence coming on.

Hope it goes well, and progress is made towards getting rid of Leon for good.

I posted the above a week ago (not usual to quote oneself I know) .

This morning I have been copied in to email from my immediate boss, where she has presented this proposal as her own idea to a wide group of people who would not have been sighted on my original work, including the Chairman.

I have replied to her to note the lack of acknowledgment. I would not dream of doing it and I am not prepared to let her do it to me.

Sorry a bit of a rant about poor behaviour in the workplace.

    Grrrrrr.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    :

Big dog, she doesn't like upstairs, she likes down stairs, no one sharing her bed and it not too warm. Dog dog likes upstairs, but tbh, if she goes anywhere she feels is special she'll be happier. I think because big dog is a bit rough with her and its likely to get worse as big dog gets older now, its probably just worth letting dog dog have some where that's just for her, or maybe her and kiwi. Annoyingly the new heating stuff is bigger than we foresaw and where I hoped to have a sort of cabin bed system for them both it looks like there will not be room, for kiwi yes, but not dog dog.

Edit: oh , just re read....um, dog dog vocal was not impressed for to hours she said 'yip.......(long pause) yip yip........yip.....yip yip '' but bog dog wasn't thrilled either. I called big dog's first owner this week about her for some other reason and said we'd made a lot of progress with the space defensive ness issue she had. that its never a problem with kiwi at all, and first owner was amazed. There she was a kennel dog initially and they have BEAUTIFUL kennels for dogs which take two or three big dogs with big runs , but she said she found that after bod dogs ops started she could not get big dog back in kennels because she wouldn't share space at all. Really big dog would have been better placed as an only dog in a family with children, but I can understand not homing a dog with kids if she had shown any type of pushiness. She is great with kids though.

The architect wanted to halt works and have heating people stick to original dimentions put extra bits on the services loft but.....I just want it done now. It can be their day room and dog dog can have a nice rug on the floor of the corridor and get up when people need the loo/to get past her, and they can come to bed at night. :)

We should at the very least decide who should start it hjd. Thanks for the reminder. Doozer? Sue? Anyone?...

ETA: if we choose Doozer, she can interior design the new gaff and make it look fab. She did say only a few pages back that she was lacking the opportunity to use her creative spark. Doozer, please, pretty please...

After my 2nd or 3rd visit to the house, and getting back the results of the searches etc. I emailed the lady at the solicitors who seemed to be doing all the work my list of questions/ queries.
    I managed 3 A4 sides of bulletpoints :o
I'm tempted to ask what the bullet points were. If you'd rather not say here, could you cut & paste via pm? (Unless they're very specific of course!)
It's getting harder & harder to keep the government in the manner to which they have become accustomed.

I basically went through the searches etc that the solicitors had sent to me, and the surveyors report and listed any questions/ comments that I had...

Bearing in mind I was operating under fairly high levels of stress at the time (11 days until I had to finish typing a rather large document...) so it wasn't as coherent/ concise as it might have been :)

Recently, a couple of weeks ago, I accidentally upgraded macputer to os7.

It was a huge mistake. The calendar in particular is pants. Its too sensitive and fast and too hard to get accurate times and dates in and i notice its not saving all my entries accurately.

I have a vet appt tomorrow I think at ten, but its a bit of a guess. Its not even in the diary. Last weeks is down as 10 : w9, which I seem to remember fiddling with last week, so maybe tomorrow is ten thirty . Sigh.

    I guess I just ......guess!
