I skipped some of the pre-reading, as I've already read all 3 books (highly recommended nice peeps!). I've just done the first 2 videos of week 1. So far, I'm glad I only viewed 1 house! It reminded me of when I try to buy new trainers.:D Twice in my life I tried, couldn't decide on a pair from too many options, & ended up buying several pairs instead!:o

nowadays, I regularly ask someone to get me a pair at christmas. My default/opt-out version!:p

I've written to the solicitor asking whether they will be doing the full survey, or whether I need to arrange my own.

I think I still feel I need to be doing something!

Always exciting, getting an ebay purchase like that. Hope FIR loves it & it is a complete bargain!:T

I think there's no chain here. Not heard off the EA apart from when I sent them ID & solicitor details (shrug smiley).
Figured I should try the pre-read as I'd only made it halfway through the first book so far.
Apart from sending ID and solicitor details I think it was only me who contacted the EA, not the other way round. Until the vendors finally responded to my suggested exchange date (after the date) whilst I was abroad for work (so phone was off) suggesting exchanging in 2 days time (the answer was no!).

I'm still confused about the solicitor arranging surveys? AIUI the bank instructs a valuation and you can opt to upgrade that visit to a homebuyers or full survey. Or you arrange your own independently of the bank. I'm sure you've got it sussed out though :)

Er... so what is this course y'all keep talking about?

Edit: I've never been impressed by surveys. They are full of disclaimers that mean if anything goes wrong you still can't sue anyone and, tbh, the surveyers don't check things you can't see are wrong yourself. E.g. they don't go onto the roof or check under the carpets or half a dozen other places problems can hide.

I sent ID & solicitor details to the EA the day after offer accepted.

Solicitors opening letter had a list of stuff. ID was a minor issue, but they do electronic verification for a fiver, so went with that. Had to send AIP, proof of where deposit was coming from, bank statement, a questionnaire. They also asked if I have an idea of a proposed exchange/completion date. Cheque was sent to cover searches. Letter also asked if there was anything else. I had omitted one detail off the fixtures/fittings bit, so added this in the letter, & a sentence querying if I needed to arrange my own survey.

Hopefully I'll have a response by the weekend, so I can at least know what to be panicking about next!;)

Viva posted it a while ago. I'd read a couple of his books & mentioned them. Viva caught the bug from my review. Nikkster & Gen jumped on our bandwagon & we're all having a go at learning!:)
From one or 2 bits it seems that about 50000 are currently doing it (unless some of the surveys include previous courses?)

Being self-employed is really rubbish when you lose your mojo.

I've half tidied the office, briefly found a moment of mojo and then lost it again. I'm so behind after being poorly and although I'm quite keen to pay the bills, have absolutely zero passion for what we're doing right now. Nada. It's not a great recipe.

I'm a creative. My job now is that of a glorified admin assistant. I have no idea what to do.

I have very little mojo most of the time. It helps that teaching gives me such a structured set of very short deadlines - tomorrow's lessons must be prepared by tomorrow, including the marking that will need to be given back during the lesson.

But the mojo-less life is not great. Hope you feel better soon.
To make life easier ( big dog now back in season far too early , could be ok or could be a health problem I'm watching and waiting ATM) I just packaged the kiwi off to non RP.

I then sat down and put my head in my arms on the kitchen table and cried like a baby. How silly is that? Non RP will love having kiwi, he'll hopefully enjoy it, and if not he can come back home tomorrow and I'll do what I normally do. Its just easier than trying to cope with one post op and two others who need to be separated. I know practically this is a sensible move. But I dislike it immensely.

Not silly. Those dogs are your family, especially while DH is away.

Oh, and wear your seatbelt. My kids are only alive because they were wearing theirs when somebody else was driving in wet weather with worn tyres.

    Course does sound good.

I'd get a structural engineers report buying any house I bought again, coz of the th type of house to which DH and I are attracted.

Though, I still really would want to build one. :o. I think it would be quicker.

After my 2nd or 3rd visit to the house, and getting back the results of the searches etc. I emailed the lady at the solicitors who seemed to be doing all the work my list of questions/ queries.

    Good on your DH.

I was cycling behind a woman en route to work yesterday. A taxi driver opened his door as she passed. It hit her foot and she stopped 20-30 yards further on. She was pretty shaken up and her foot was really bleeding very hard; she couldn't walk at all so eventually she agreed that I could ring the ambulance for her to get her checked out.

I just hope that if I ever need assistance, someone will do that for me rather than just walk on by.

By the way, the taxi driver decided to drive off in the opposite direction. Just as well I got his taxi plate, then...
    .

Was walking along in Norbury last year when I heard a massive sound of crunching metal from the road. A driver had parked his car by the kerb and then opened his door without looking only to have it instantly torn off by a passing bus. Nobody hurt. Your taxi driver needs an incident like that to teach him some proper road sense (other brands of sense are available).
