My stupid in the way telegraph pole is being removed on Monday.
.
Open reach reckon they are going to sort everything before the end of the week. We'll see.
I have new zen calm.
How electric is a one wire, were I to say......cut it myself?0 -
I think the Wise Woman wouldn't start cutting and trying.
Orf to my blood chemistry review, later NPs!...much enquiry having been made concerning a gentleman, who had quitted a company where Johnson was, and no information being obtained; at last Johnson observed, that 'he did not care to speak ill of any man behind his back, but he believed the gentleman was an attorney'.0 -

It's ok, they give you a local. You don't feel a thing until that wears off. It's pretty sore when it does though.
The best bit is that you get to watch it all live on the ultrasound screen.0 -

You would be extremely calm afterwards, probably permanently.
Those cable on wooden poles have about 20,000 volts difference between them and earth. The ones that go into your house are at about 1,000 volts. They also have a lot of available current as they are quite capable of running your kettle, oven, a couple of rings on your stove, the TV, heating and a bunch of lights all at the same time.
Best left alone IMHO.0 -

I'm talking about a telephone wire, not the mains electric.
I wish my phone COULD make me a cuppa. We have those long distance phones that are meant to work across a few miles, and they don my even work at the far end of the cheese room. Or in door ways.
I know they have a small current, I was guessing sort of like an electric fence?
:edit. Good, I just realised how much money we might have been able to save were the phone line current high and usable by the house. I could have talked more than doozer on the phone to him.0 -
Cheers NDG.

Ah, in flight movie! Super! It'll be fun. You can see him in the face. (Remember the camera adds ten pounds, he's not that big ,).

I guarantee you'll be absolutely fine if you do this. I'll give you a lifetime guarantee: it lasts for the length of your life.lostinrates wrote: »Ah, in flight movie! Super! It'll be fun. You can see him in the face. (Remember the camera adds ten pounds, he's not that big ,).
It was kinda interesting last time watching them fish about for Leon last time. It's clearly got some kind of sold (elastic?) exterior as the needle kept pushing Leon out of the way rather than going in.
I went to the chemist today and got some ibuprofen with codeine. We can buy some pretty potent pain killers over here! That'll knock me out and remove the pain for the afternoon. I might treat myself to a glass of red and a steak at lunchtime for extra afternoon snooziness.0 -
With the rider that we are all very different, I certainly wanted Mr Bugs to leave this mortal coil and pronto. Well, what I actually wanted was for him to be miraculously well again, free from confusion and indignity and well, the sheer pointlessness of it all. But that wasn't going to happen, so it was better to wish it was over for his sake as much as the family. I haven't felt guilty for entertaining those thoughts since.
Thanks very much for sharing that. I think you've hit the nail on the head about exactly what DW wants for her mother. Either one thing or the other, but not this.No reliance should be placed on the above! Absolutely none, do you hear?0 -

No guilt!
Me, my Mum and my sister all entertained similar thoughts while my Dad was dying of Alzheimer's. At one point I decided to tie a fishing wire across the top of the stairs. That was at the point when he was getting violent and it looked like he was going to be treated as a social rather than a medical case which would mean minimum state-paid help, if any at all so there would be no end to Mum's suffering.
I ended up getting drunk and forgetting I'd thought about doing that. Probably for the best in hindsight.
This is an extremely insightful book which you might even find helpful ex-post:

Well it's biopsy #2 tomorrow.
We had a dinner with SiL to celebrate one of her kids' birthdays. I was quite late as I had to work then wanted to pick up a present for her son on the way and the traffic was horrendous. They had the hump with me pretty clearly but TBH I have bigger fish to fry right now.
I'm not worried about the test but it is pretty unpleasant so I'm not looking forward to it. It's horrible enough for them to give me a local anesthetic before sticking the needle in. At least I get a day off work for it so it could be worse.
I'm hoping to meet FiL afterwards for lunch as it's near his place. Then I can feel an afternoon of indolence coming on.
Every sympathy Gen. Ensure you get, and take, sufficient pain relief for when the local wears off.
Then do not mix it with booze.
edit - just saw your 'plan' for the OTC drugs and red wine0
