My back is giving me gyp. It hurts and I hobble.... not had this for donkey's years. It first came on when I arrived at the market today - and wasn't made easier by my tumble in Asda... actually, I skidded/fell on the way in - and on the way out. There's no grip in fake crocs when you walk on painted carpark markings it seems.

Update: Just realised this has mysteriously fixed itself... good. Hope that doesn't happen again for another 30 years or more!

Yes, rain. If its anything over there then like it is here today it will be uber grim.
Driving back home today was dire; awful weather, it was rain/misty and the car was steaming up a little and the mirrors covered in rainspots, so I had poor exterior visibility for what other vehicles were around me at decision points.... all OK if you know where you're going, but if you're on a fast two-lane road and looking for the sign to know which lane you've to be in, sometimes by the time it tells you other cars are in the outside lane, so not a great experience.

I have no walking boots or muckers (whatever they are), I've no boots at all. I have some 15 year old fell walking shoes that leak.... I don't go out in the rain normally as I've no proper footwear for wet weather.

My shoe collection is office court shoes, fake crocs, old walking shoes and a couple of pairs of 4" heeled mules.

Another reason I don't go out in the rain normally is because my jeans are too long and they get wet from the ground..... even the petite range pair I've got get wet.

Ouch, ouch, ouch! Hope you feel better soon. If not, please take it up with Asda. Painted surfaces are notoriously slippery. Did anyone come to your aid or did you manage to right yourself without going all the way down?

I saved myself with my hand.... which was then jet black with oil deposits, so I wiped that on the nearest metal upright structure and the top of a bin. I was in the car park, nobody came to help. I didn't go toboganning down... just down, put my arm out and saved myself hitting the whole deck by about 2". I can, it seems, be quite agile and nifty when surprised :) It's all a bit of a blur really; if I'd gone full face down.... I'd have been black head to foot with oil grime... so would have scuttled back to the car and sobbed then left ... as you do.

Just remembered... I bought one of those knitted/hippy hats that comes down over the ears and ends in woolen "pigtails" ... and it's got a bobble on. £1 so I thought it'd be worthwhile getting that for my ear ache I get when it gets cold and I am outside.

I should take a photo of that... I know you love them.
  • Back - we had a really lovely evening. OH took us on the London Eye, and then for dinner at a place called Ping Pong near by. We had a wonderful time. And it's raining here, too (-:

I had a nice day today. DH and I went to Royal Albert Hall for Christmas matinee concert - great fun - then went to Fortnums and stocked up on truffs, then to Liberty. Regent St was mad busy though the lights were lovely. There was a queue to get into Hamleys.

Couldn't get what I wanted at Liberty and I'm at a loss. I'm looking for a gay marriage gift for two guys who are incredibly stylish but not into trinkets. It is proving very difficult. It also needs to be something that can be put into a suitcase or hand luggage and taken to America.

I must confess I also watch Sarah Beeney's 'extensions' with a near OCD intensity. :o
    Ha de haha Hamish.;)

On a serious note, I feel her shows are misleading as they condense the utter nightmare of building an extension into about 35 minutes (allowing for ads and re-caps) and any scenes involving mud and dust last around 3 minutes.

Many of the projects last around 6 - 9 months and all condensed into 1 little bite sized show.

In Real Time, the mud is weeks and months and the dust continual.

Sounds like a nice day ...

I drive past the new Banksy on the other side of the Blackwall tunnel quite often and every time I see it, it makes me smile especially considering it's location.

I have a friend who kind of fits that spec for present buying as well so decided to get her the slogan on a poster and get it framed. Kind of a nice pic for the loo :)

Got 1 from Ebay but it had no bit if the st scene so lost the scale a bit. No-one is putting it onto canvas so we decided to go a do the picture ourselves this morning (and have me in it as a bonus) and I will have it printed onto a small acrylic or canvas with Jessops.
I have 4 days to get it done in time.

I am going to open them with photoshop tomo (as they are raw file pics) and super high res and there are a couple without me in them if you want me to email you a jpeg to print out.
Of course, this may be not their type of thing but even printed onto tea towels would be kinda nice :)
    It's this one

That Banksy is brilliant! Thanks fc. I'm not sure my American friends will get Banksy or know who he is (iykwim), but I'd love that on a tea towel, or on a poster on the wall.
