I hope that picture isn't Brighton:

Well, to be fair, you're forking out for the spot it sits on .... the huts aren't a great deal of money. So the issue would become whether the spot'd been washed away and/or whether the cliffs behind the hut were deemed safe or not. Might be covered by insurance (unlikely).... but the spot's yours and you can bang another shed on it... or if there are enough bits leftover you can have yours rebuilt by the little men that maintain and build beach huts in that area.

In some areas, huts are quite cheap.... e.g. the East Coast they're pennies.... here, if I were desperately seeking one, I could get one for £20-25k if I looked and waited enough ... then it's about £1500/year to pay the rent etc.... and that's the bit that stops me. I could set aside the purchase price; it's the forever increasing rents the councils charge that are the problem.

I think it may be Cromer....

Our beach huts were moved around and jostled a little but not completely smashed, although one set were having a particularly nice time going for a swim in a beach front car park.
We made it! All three boys have graduated, it's been hard work but it shows there is a possibility of a chance of normal (ish) life after a diagnosis (or two) of ASD. It's not been the easiest route but I am so glad I ignored everything and everyone and did my own therapies with them.
Eldests' EDS diagnosis 4.5.10, mine 13.1.11 eekk - now having fun and games as a wheelchair user.

Our beach and sea front looks very sorry for itself at the moment. I posted last Friday about having a look and it appeared ok but later on that day, we went to a different part of the beach...and it certainly didn't look ok.

A huge swathe of the prom at the top of my parent's road has been smashed, the beautiful gardens (which I was too scared to look at before), ruined, stones and sand everywhere, the ice cream kiosk much remembered from my childhood, smashed.

It appears the stretch of beach at the top of my parent's road took the main part of the battering and looking at the stones built up against the defences, it was a miracle they didn't get flooded, I think another couple of inches at most and their house would have been the same as in 53.

Spot on! I was searching for pictures of damage at Sheringham, as I was sent some quite alarming pictures by friends there. The picture I quoted came up on that search, but it must be Cromer, with the church and the pier.

This is the one our friends sent:

If you look carefully you can just see that a large chunk of the concrete prom has been washed away.

    Ladies, ladies.

What is wrong with you both?

DH and I ....have a record player each now! Ok, one is resident parents now bestowed upon me, and the other was in store for ages, but its amazing to have it set up again.

Just get a record player. (Both ours are exactly the same models, by coincidence, and we know exactly how old they are because DH got his for his bar mitzvah ).

Only problem is, some of the records haven't been stored that sympathetically. :(. They could do with an edit, but ......will need to be done on a brave day with stiff drinks I think.

Took my old record player to the recycling centre, told the guy it was working perfectly (thought they'd sell it or something and get a few quid), had the horror of looking in my rear-view mirror as I drove away and seeing him bashing it aginst the concrete to get the metal out. A Dual CS505 it was.:(

I'd bought it when I lived in Nikksterville and travelled to London. The guy in the queue ahead of me in the shop was Sal Solo from Classics Nouveaux.

Got a record player in the attic with my records and need to convert them to something playable in this day and age.

On the good side, have found lots of old vinyl music living past its sell-by date on youtube. The internet's a great resource.

Twenty-five years ago I was changing trains at Clapham Junction and realised there was trouble as no trains were reaching the platform. One of my workmates came up the platform in tears saying she's seen a train crash round the curve of the line, not visible from the station. She'd seen all the bodies being taken out. The school overlooking the track had loads of students all trained in first aid and they did a great job of trying to help everybody.

My parents can't hear of an accident in London without thinking I'm in it. :(
