Sadly physically I'm a lot less dense than I was at 19 but mentally it is the other way around :(

I was contemplating cutting the grass yesterday but surely on 22nd February that is just plain wrong? It does worry me that we have had no proper frosts to kill off the nasties that normally get killed off in the winter. However I am lucky enough to be having a winter cold (cough, sore throat, temperature and lots of snot) so at least that feels slightly seasonal.

Today's excitement is taking DS (who is 5) to a birthday party. I don't know any of the parents in his class and have to admit to not really being interested in doing so, so it will be a couple of hours of browsing (here's hoping there is decent signal there).

We had growth through last winter too. Spring was slower than normal growth though. This year I don't need to cut yet really, which is just as well, as its too wet for my mower.

There has been hardly any day when the temps weren't theoretically good for growth though.

My Dad uses some 1950s bits of carpets on his vegetable garden in the winter, to discourage weeds growing that he then has to dig up.

I use cardboard for the same purpose. We had an old carpet on top of our muck heap for years, last years fire did for most of it. When the ground is drier I will go an see what is left.

    When I was 19 I had a 22" waist. These days I'm just glad that I don't have 22" thighs.
Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? Most moles are not cancerous, any doubts, please check next time you visit your GP.

Trying to think back to what age we could dump and run, rather than stick around. Can't be far off.

Bet you get accosted and find yourself chatting rather than browsing in peace.

We have one of these living under our driveway:

    They're quite common in Sydney.

I don't usually like reptiles however I am making an exception. They had me at the point where I read that they fulfil a useful role eating slugs and snails.

I do know that at 23, when I got married I weighed less than 7 stone.

Always had a slightly round tummy even when I was a twig, as I now know it is the characteristic apple shape of PCOS.

Ah, I got the lizard thing backwards. It was thought not to be venomous but it turns out to be mildly venomous.

The lizard in question is a Perentie and I saw one here:

I went out for dinner at the local RSL Club last night and had roast beef with veggies for a very reasonable $11.50 (about a fiver at normal exchange rates). I think we have a winner in the 'driest roast beef in NSW' competition. The veggies were nice though. I then sat and watched the Aussies getting their Arsenals kicked by South Africa in the cricket, something I think I enjoyed more than most of the patrons of the club.

How loud were you about your cricket enjoyment? Or did you keep it as a quiet, private satisfaction?

Thanks for the lizard-link, we've just spent half an hour looking that one up and talking about it. Isaac's familiar with the lizard monitor class, but didn't know much about that one in particular, and was fascinated by it. Extending his knowledge of ugly lizards is definitely his idea of fun!
    LOL

Immune to kittens tonight... too busy studying to keep current with this malarkey.....

This may look more complicated, but it feels so much more like home to an aviation dinosaur like me....

Humph - no fun trying to irritate people who prove immune to the irritation (-:

OH's plane, which is older than either of us (from 1976) looks like a cold-war film submarine inside, to me.

I had a 28" waist aged 19, now it's 32". My thighs are pretty big due to the cycling. There isn't an ounce of fat on them though.

That's ok. I love having wild lizards about the place. We call our blue tongue Dima.

Mrs Generali's Grandma has loads of geckos in her house. They live off mozzies.

I might have mentioned that Australia weren't playing very well in passing once or twice. Or thrice.
