I miss bugslet. I wanted her to see the cat in a hat picture. I hoped she'd forgive it being a not a dog but a cat that it had a hat.

She's been on today thanking some of our posts. Hope all's well.

Sounds like something to mention to the plumbers and/ or builders I shall soon be finding. At least I know some trade speak now :)

I don't think its leaking (yet) but its definitely quite rusty.

I think mine's been rusting for years ... certainly hasn't poisoned me yet even if it is leaking!

Try having your back to the wall, shoulder to the wheel, and nose to the grindstone, that'll give an interesting mental image?

A mate of mine from school once had to sit through some torture involving a company "motivational speaker", where he said several times, "there's no "I" in "TEAM"!" as if he was being really, really clever. Mate could only come up with a list of other words which have no "I" in them, such as "fool", "half-baked", and "ego", for the rest of the speech.

Two laugh out louds in two paragraphs - brilliant, NDG :rotfl: :T
I'm sort of hoping I can find some reclaimed shutters or bifold doors (rather than have new ones made) so I can have best of both for the master bathroom. ( I really hate the term en suite. Therefore I am going to stop using it now for my house, :D)

I love the term 'master bathroom' but I think you might find it pushes your Posh Score up several % ;):p

Growing up there were 4 of us in a house with 4 bedrooms, 1 bathroom (shower over bath) and 1 downstairs loo.

Us too. I don't remember many occasions when we needed more than two toilets at any one time, other than when lots of visitors were about to leave!

One of our long-standing friends unexpectedly became a Lib-Dem Lord, but he's most definitely not posh, although awfully nice, unpretentious and very hard-working. He's called Monroe (that's his first name). How unposh is that?

I'd have said Monroe is very posh!! :D

    (And very Scottish, of course!)

I know probably know one else is very interested as none of you have teen or preteen girls (oh, duh, michaels, how old is your eldest?) but I read the girl who circumnavigated fairyland in a ship of her own making last night. Having loved some of the more adult books by the author and said here I was intrigued as to how she wrote for a younger audience.

Its really Interesting to see the dofference. I read the short story behind it first (and have the other two down loaded now) and it was just lovely. I think I AM coloured by having read the adult books and my own less than pure mind and read things from other subtly woven themes in the adult books into these which is slightly unfair.

And......its so beautifully written I almost don't care. Must clearly and simpler for a 'young adult' audience (the heroine in the book is twelve....I think some twelve year olds might find the arty fairy tale too childish missing some of the elements that make it very adult IYSWIM?). But its very beautiful I think.

I draw very different conclusions from the amateur reviews I've read though, so I'd like to see what 'real' reviewers are saying about it.

It deserves every award its won. I was scared after the other books it would be an anticlimax. It did keep me awake till about half two last night though. I don't think its for every reader but its really exciting to feel so excited about this kind of you g adult literature. I just love children's literature, I feel it transcends something (actually I'd say Valentes work for adult audience has no such problem as do a lo of my favourite authors).

Anyway I'm trying not to start the next one this evening or I know I'll want to read all of that too and I want to spend some more time digesting the first one. (I'm trying to learn to pace my reading) . But I know some will understand my excitement if not why that book caused it!

I find volcanos fascinating. Much more so than dinosaurs I'm afraid (sorry Isaac).

Very practical. Much more likely to meet a volcano than a dinosaur ;)

Chimney isn't used anymore either so no heat going up there to dry it out.
Probably no air vents .... they need to breathe, you can't just shut chimneys away.
